If you are an Amazon Prime Member then you are in for a treat because you can snag a FREE $5 Amazon Code for doing what you probably already do anyway…shop on Amazon for pet supplies or other frequent repeat-purchase items. It’s super easy, and I just tried it! Here’s the scoop:

Now through March 20, 2017, you can reorder any physical product over $5 with Alexa Voice Shopping and you’ll get a $5 Amazon Promo Code. Just ask Alexa to reorder a product you’ve previously purchased on Amazon. Your promo code will be emailed to you within about seven days of purchase.

Need some inspiration on what to reorder? Check out Your Order History or Buy It Again to find items you have previously purchased. Common items for us include dish soap, paper towels, dog treats and snack foods.

I ordered using our Amazon Echo, but this also works if you have an Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, Amazon Fire TV, or Fire tablet device.

I checked my past orders to see what I needed and decided to grab a 120-count pack of Earth Rated Dog Poop Bags for $6.99 including Free Prime Shipping. I’d already enabled voice shopping in my Amazon settings so I just went to the living room and said, “Alexa, reorder Earth Rated Dog Waste Bags” and she confirmed the price and placed the order for me. In a few days, I’ll have a free $5 Amazon promo code to spend on whatever else we need next time I order anything from Amazon. Super cool!

If you love cute animals and spend any time on the internet, then you’ve probably seen Goats of Anarchy. If not, stop what you are doing and watch this adorable video to see the story of one of the rescue goats in her duck costume (she wears it like a dog wears a ThunderShirt, to calm her anxiety):

Too cute, right?!? Anyway, there’s a new Goats of Anarchy book being released in a few days and it’s available to order NOW. It should ship out on March 15th, but may sell out quickly, as popular internet sensations are known to do. As with all Amazon book orders, it comes with the pre-release guarantee. Order now and if the price decreases before it is released, you only pay the lower price.

Order: Goats of Anarchy: One Woman’s Quest to Save the World One Goat At A Time. Hardcover; March 15, 2017.

From the publisher: Get ready to party—the goats are back in town! Based on the popular Instagram account, Goats of Anarchy takes you on a tour of Leanne’s goat rescue farm, a place where special-needs goats can heal, grow, and butt heads to their hearts’ content.

Join Pocket, Ella, Chibs, Lyla, Prospect and Polly–the goat who took the Internet by storm with her adorable duck costume–as they rumble, snuggle, pig out, dress up, and even teach you a few goat yoga moves to loosen your haunches. Whether they’re learning to walk or just romping around the farm, these horned and hooved heartbreakers will have you grinning ear to ear as they chew the scenery—literally!

About the author: Also known as “Goat Mama,” Leanne Lauricella is the founder of Goats of Anarchy, a non-profit organization that aims to rescue and rehabilitate baby goats with special needs. As a former city girl with a passion and compassion for animals, Leanne has developed a wildly popular and Webby award-winning Instagram account and continues to provide goats a happy and loving forever home at her sanctuary. When she left New York City for the wilds of New Jersey in 2011, Leanne Lauricella knew nothing about animal sanctuaries. She started her Instagram account, @goatsofanarchy, shortly after getting her first two goats, Jax and Opie. Today, Leanne’s Instagram has over 400,000 followers, and is the winner of the 2016 People’s Voice Webby Award for Animal-Based Social Media Account. [Read more…]

The Lion In The Living Room: New York Times Bestseller for Cat Lovers

Pet lovers, get your paws on a copy of the New York Times bestseller, The Lion in the Living Room: How House Cats Tamed Us and Took Over the World by Abigail Tucker.

A lively adventure through history, natural science, and pop culture in search of how cats conquered the world, the Internet, and our hearts.

House cats rule back alleys, deserted Antarctic islands, and our bedrooms. Clearly, they own the Internet, where a viral cat video can easily be viewed upwards of ten million times. But how did cats accomplish global domination? Unlike dogs, they offer humans no practical benefit. The truth is they are sadly incompetent rat-catchers and pose a threat to many ecosystems. Yet, we love them still.

To better understand these furry strangers in our midst, Abby Tucker travels to meet the breeders, activists, and scientists who’ve dedicated their lives to cats. She visits the labs where people sort through feline bones unearthed from the first human settlements, treks through the Floridian wilderness in search of house cats on the loose, and hangs out with Lil Bub, one of the world’s biggest feline celebrities.

Top reviews include:

“In The Lion in the Living Room, three things come together with exquisite, delightful effect: a natural history of cats, replete with ecological issues as well as contemporary cultural memes; evolutionary science as it pertains to the origins and consequences of our fascination with felines; and an unusually deft way with words by author Abigail Tucker. The net result is a deep and illuminating perspective on our favorite household companion… One hesitates to use the word genius, but Tucker’s book borders on that quality.”
—Huffington Post

“Whatever your personal feelings [are] about our feline friends, this is a fascinating story about how cats not only conquered the world but our hearts.”
—Catster

“If you know a cat person who likes science, this is the book you need right meow.”
—Smithsonian.com, “The Best Books about Science of 2016”

“Fascinating… If you have relatives or friends who are mad about cats—and the strong statistical probability is that you do—consider putting this book under their Christmas tree.”
—National Review
