With so many people quarantining and/or working from home, 2020 has been a BIG year for pet adoption! If you or someone you know has recently adopted a puppy or adult dog, there’s a new book we think you should know about. It’s Doggie Language: A Dog Lover’s Guide to Understanding Your Best Friend by Lili Chin.

If you’ve ever wondered what your dog is thinking, feeling or trying to tell you, then this adorable and informative book will help you answer those questions and more. It’s the perfect illustrated guide to seeing and understanding the subtle visual cues and interpreting the behaviors used by your beloved pup to express how they’re feeling. The more we notice and listen to what our dogs are trying to tell us, the more we can improve our relationship with our best friends, helping them to feel safe and happy.

The author, Lili Chin, is an artist best known for co-creating the Warner Bros hit animated series “Mucha Lucha” and for her globally popular dog art. The founder of Doggie Drawings, she provides custom illustration and a catalog of art products for sale. Her dog behavior infographics have become a popular tool for dog training professionals, veterinarians, behaviorists, and welfare groups who advocate for humane animal training methods. Her animal artwork has also been featured in art museums, on television, and in world-wide educational media campaigns, and her “Dogs of The World” poster series has been a viral hit. Calling all Target fans!

Right now you can get $50 off a $100 purchase when you get a Target Red Card.

Both the credit card and debit card are eligible for this deal. We recommend a credit card over debit card especially for online shopping security/protection, and it helps build your credit history as well. But choose the type of card that works with your budget and spending habits. The last thing anyone needs right now is debt or more bills! I’m using my card only for necessities right now, and pay the balance off in full each month.

With social distancing and coronavirus cases on the rise in our area, I’ve been doing more online shopping than ever for pet supplies, disinfecting and cleaning supplies, pantry items like canned foods, pasta and rice, and paper goods. Since we are in hurricane season here, it’s more important than ever to stay stocked up! Target’s prices are great, and orders usually arrive in 2 business days.

I really love Target’s organic brand “Simply Balanced” especially for herbal & green tea, healthy snacks, beans and almond milk. I also love that Target has a great selection of books at very competitive prices.

It takes about 3 minutes to signup online here and you get your approval email instantly. Offer ends 8/16 so don’t miss it.

In addition to the $50 OFF for new Red Card approvals, all Red Card holders receive 5% OFF all future Target purchases (in-store and online), free shipping on most items, plus special exclusive offers and an extra 30 days added to the exchange and return window.

Visit Target’s Red Card page here to learn more and get started.

Book for Dog Lovers: The Dog Lady of Mexico

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been spending a LOT of time reading recently. I’ve always been a book-lover and avid reader, but since the coronavirus shutdown, I’ve been devouring just about every book I can get my hands on.

Most recently, I’ve been reading The Dog Lady of Mexico by Alison Sawyer Current. It’s a fictional novel, based on a true story. It’s heartwarming, inspiring, and sure to tug at the heartstrings of dog lovers and animal rescue supporters everywhere.

From the book’s back cover

Rose’s lifelong dream was to move to a tropical paradise and continue her work as an artist. She imagined waking up by the ocean, sipping her coffee on the beach and heading to her pottery studio. There she would spin sun-drenched inspirations while her husband would share his passion for food at his ocean side cantina. It was all coming together for Rose when a good deed changed her life forever. Little did she know that this small favor would gradually become an obsession that she could not ignore. Take a trip with The Dog Lady of Mexico – a fictional novel based on a true story. Follow this heart-wrenching journey of love, loss and survival while building an animal rescue on the tiny island of Isla Mujeres in Mexico.

Part of the book sale proceeds will go to support Isla Animals, the rescue organization Alison founded in Mexico in 2004.

The Dog Lady of Mexico is available in paperback here, and is also currently FREE to read with Kindle Unlimited.

If you haven’t done so already, you can sign up here for 2 months FREE of Kindle Unlimited ($19.98 value). You get unlimited access to over 1 million books, magazines, audio narration, and more. And you don’t need a Kindle device…read on any phone, tablet, PC or device using the Kindle app.
