L'Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

BB Creams have been all the rage recently, and I love trying new stuff whenever I get the chance. So I was super excited when the folks over at SheSpeaks invited me to try the new L’Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream.

I’m already a huge fan of L’Oréal and usually wear L’Oreal Visible Lift Serum Absolute liquid foundation. I’ve also been a loyal user of their Feria hair color for years. L’Oréal people, if you are reading this, please don’t ever stop making #58…and put the other lady’s picture back on the box!

What L’Oréal Paris says about Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream: This product gives the sheer coverage needed to create a natural bare skin finish, while delivering built-in skincare benefits. With four beautifying actions, this all-in-one innovation primes and smoothes, perfects to hide flaws, hydrates all-day, and corrects and evens skin. The product is infused with skincare ingredients like Panthenol, Vitamin E and Glycerin for 24-hour moisturization.

To apply, simply dot on and blend with fingertips. Self-adjusting beads will instantly transform and blend to your skin tone.

What I say about it: First, it makes a good primer and definitely helps make enlarged pores look less noticeable. Goes on smoothly, and didn’t cause my skin to break out. It did a pretty good job at automatically matching my skin tone, but didn’t provide enough coverage to wear alone. It might for someone with less imperfections…I apply it and then use concealer and mineral makeup powder over it to reduce the shine and add more coverage.

PMD: Professional Microdermabrasion Beauty Treatments At Home!

PMD

Let’s talk skin! Like many pet parents I spend lots of time outdoors and often spend more time and money caring for Daisy’s grooming needs than I do my own.  The lack of attention I’ve been paying to my skin is starting to really show!

We live where it’s warm and sunny all year and though I’ve tried to be good about the sunscreen, my skin is showing definite signs of sun damage and dark spots. I’ve always struggled with enlarged pores and now that I’m getting older, I’m also seeing lots of fine lines and random rough patches popping up. I’ve got a few old acne scars I’d like to get rid of, too.

Most of you know me well enough by now, to know that I’m always on the hunt for effective, affordable solutions for both pets AND their people. I’ve been testing out the PMD, Personal Microderm Device, for about 3 weeks now and am super excited to let you in on the secret. For about the price of one spa facial or visit to a cosmetic dermatologist, you can give yourself weekly skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatments at home!

PMD microderm device

What is PMD?

PMD is an at-home microdermal exfoliation system that uses the same aluminum oxide crystals found in the equipment at your doctor’s office, salons and fancy spas. It’s designed to  help improve your skin texture and appearance in two ways: The aluminum oxide crystals embedded into the exfoliating discs work to resurface the stratum corneum skin layer (that’s the one that can make skin look dull and old), plus the PMD uses vacuum suction to stimulate blood flow and bring collagen to the surface. Both of these actions help your skin care products to penetrate deeper into the skin so you use less and they are more effective, too!

Why I Like It:

Most of us don’t have time and money to make frequent visits to the spa or cosmetic dermatologist. Even if you have health insurance, anti-aging and microderm treatments aren’t covered and can be expensive since you usually need repeated visits to see results. With the PMD, you buy it once, own it for life and use it  every 6-7 days on your own schedule. I’ve only been using it for 3 weeks but I am already seeing and feeling smoother skin, and am starting to see a brighter, more even skin tone too. Here’s more reasons I’m a fan of this beauty tool:

Our Favorite Toys and Treats from Polka Dog Bakery at Target {Product Review}

Shops at Target Polka Dog Bakery

The Shops at Target launched earlier this month and includes the limited edition line of Polka Dog Bakery’s yummy treats and fun toys, along with colorful harnesses and collars, too. The kind folks over there invited Daisy to try out a few of these limited-edition pet products and so we could tell you about them! And, since these exclusive products are sure to be popular and sell out quickly, we’ll be giving some away to several lucky readers in a few days! You can get a great behind-the scenes look inside the Polka Dog Bakery Kitchen and score some free recipes at the Target Blog.  Here’s a little bit about the Polka Dog Bakery line at Target:

Polka Dog Bakery Treats

Polka Dog Bakery is a favorite local pet bakery in Boston so it’s no surprise that their dog treats are all-natural and come in several yummy flavors. Daisy tried the Just Ducky, Duck Flavor Crunchies and the Chickeepooh, Chicken Flavor Treats. She LOVES them both, and I love that they are Made in the USA and contain NO wheat, corn, fillers or by products. They are made using only natural ingredients including the featured main ingredient (chicken or duck in ours), rice and potato flour so they are great for dogs with sensitive tummies or allergies, and everyone can feel good about giving them to their fur baby.  We’re looking forward to sharing them with all of Daisy’s pals and trying the other flavors, too!

Polka Dog Bakery Dog Toys

The Polka Dog Bakery at Target line also includes fun and whimsical dog toys like the ones pictured here. Daisy was super excited to see that she received the ice cream sandwich toy. Not only does this toy look exactly like a huge ice cream sandwich…it’s also one of the best squeak toys we’ve seen. She’s had it a few weeks now and the toy is still in great shape and the squeaker is still going STRONG (it’s a loud one which we happen to think is hilarious). For safety and to make them last longer, remember to always supervise your dog when they play with squeak and novelty toys. Here’s Daisy enjoying her Ice Cream Sandwich:

The line also includes colorful dog collars in a variety of cute designs and solid colors as well as bright and stylish harnesses. Whatever your dog’s size or personality, you’re bound to find just the right fit! If you are lucky enough to have Polka Dog Bakery and The Shops at Target near you, then you can browse the aisles for a large selection of items from the full line.

Daisy Checking out Ark Natural

Ark Naturals produces a line of all natural health and wellness products for dogs & cats,  so Daisy and I were thrilled when they offered to send us some of their favorite items to review and give away to our readers!

When the box arrived, Daisy was too curious to even wait for me to get some photos of the goodies before she started to sniff out the details. The goodies they sent us to try, and that will be in the prize package for the giveaway winner include: a bag of BREATH-LESS Brushless-Toothpaste treats, a box of BREATH-LESS Plaque Zapper, and Paws in the Pie pet treats in Pumpkin Pie and Apple Pie.

The BREATH-LESS Brushless-Toothpaste are cleverly designed treat sticks for dogs and cats and come in different sizes. The firm outside is made of breath-freshening ingredients including chlorophyll, cinnamon, vanilla and clove, and has ridges for effective teeth scrubbing and healthy gums. The inside is filled with Ark’s patented toothpaste center to help with plaque, tartar, and fresher breath. They are made with no artificial colors or flavors and are extra cute because the toothpaste filling is heart shaped! Ark Natural toothpaste closeup

It was a real challenge to get Daisy to sit still for a photo because she was having fun rolling and chomping her treat too much but here she is enjoying a stick after her dinner:Daisy BREATH-LESS Brushless toothpaste

The fizzy BREATH-LESS Plaque Zapper comes in a box of 30 individual packets. You just add one packet to your dog or cat’s water bowl each day. Ark Naturals Plaque ZapperPutting Plaque-Zapper in your pets’ drinking water helps neutralize the ph level of saliva using naturally occurring enzymes to deter the growth of bacteria, and control plaque, tartar, and bad breath. The dissolved powder stays active for up to 8 hours in your pet’s water bowl and seems to be totally odorless, colorless, tasteless. As far as we can tell, Daisy doesn’t notice the difference!

We’re really happy with using the Ark Naturals Breath-Less products so far.  Not only do I feel less guilty about not being as consistent with the teeth brushing as I should be, but we also noticed an improvement already in Daisy’s breath. On top of having regular stinky doggy breath, Daisy’s was sometimes a bit fishy due to the fish based dog food she likes! Planning on using these 2 products together on a regular basis!

Stay Tuned…Tomorrow I’ll tell you about the Paws in the Pie treats, and how you can enter to win your own Ark Naturals Prize Package valued at more than $100 with these all natural goodies and LOTS MORE  for your dog or cat!

Note: I was not compensated in any way for this product review or accompanying giveaway. Ark Naturals provided the 4 products I reviewed, free of charge for Daisy to try, and I have given my honest opinions here.
