Dog lovers, if you read yesterday’s review of the April Super Chewer Box then you already know that the theme this month is Shakespeare in the Dog Park. The Classic BarkBox usually follows the same theme, and this month is no exception.

As with each month’s dog subscription box from BarkBox, this one included 2 fun toys inspired by the theme, plus 2 full-size bags of dog treats and a tasty meat chew. You can expect a value of $40-$50 worth of dog toys and treats in each month’s BarkBox, for as low as $21/month including free shipping for US orders.

Read on for more info and to see what was inside this month’s BarkBox.

April BarkBox Dog Toys

Bark Anthony’s Scroll Dog Toy ($12 retail value) A dog’s take on the famous line from Mark Anthony in the play Julius Caesar. This crinkly mat dog toy has two large disc squeakers and comes with two loops of soft and stretchy t-shirt rope for an epic game of tug.
Hamlet Prince of Denbark Dog Toy ($8 retail value) Remember the skull scene from Hamlet? In keeping with the Shakespeare theme of this month’s BarkBox, this plush dog toy is holding poor Yorick’s skull and looking pretty sad. He’s a classic example of the type of cute and funny plush character dog toys you can expect to get with BarkBox (as compared with the Super Chewer Box and the rubber toys you get there).

He’s also got stuffing and a squeaker inside. Here’s another view so you can see his big fluffy tail. Daisy loves chewing him and dragging him around.

April BarkBox Dog Treats

Berry Wives of Windsor Dog Treats ($8 retail value) Peanut butter and blueberry are what’s in these tasty treats — one of Daisy’s favorite combinations! As with all BarkBox dog treats, these are made in the USA with high-quality ingredients. No wheat, soy or corn included…just the way we prefer our dog treats.

Love’s Labour’s Lamb Dog Treats ($8 retail value) Confession: I had to look this one up to get the reference. Love’s Labour’s Lost is one of William Shakespeare’s early comedies. These lamb treats are made with calming Passionflower and Omega-3 rich Flaxseed.

Jones Natural Chews Lamb Link Dog Chew ($4 retail value) Meaty, chewy lamb meat and lung in a collagen casing. Big enough to break in half to save some for later!

In addition to the amazing dog toys and treats, BarkBox usually includes some extra bonus items or other surprises depending on the theme of the month. This month we got a super cute fashion accessory to accompany the Shakespearean theme. A Ruff Collar!

This is extra clever because the reason why dog cones are called E-Collars is because they are named after Elizabethan Collars (the collars Queen Elizabeth wore) which were also called Ruffs. Here’s Daisy wearing hers.

As usual, this month’s Barkbox also included an info card with details on what’s in the box, and a fun little activity.

Barkbox Cost and Value

By our calculation, this month’s BarkBox had $40 worth of dog toys, treats and chews if you were to purchase them all separately. That’s makes a subscription a real bargain when you consider that plans starts as low as $21/month with free US shipping included.
