Dog moms & dads, it’s time for this month’s BarkBox review, where Daisy and I give you an insider’s look at all the dog toys, treats and surprises that come with the world’s most popular dog subscription box!

Each month’s theme is different, and this month the BarkBox theme is Night at the Squeakeasy. It’s the Ruffing Twenties and we’re ready to party, dogs & dolls! Come down to the Squeakeasy for hot jazz, yappin’ flappers, bootleggers and pooch hooch!

As with each month’s dog subscription box from BarkBox, this one included 2 fun toys inspired by the theme, plus 2 full-size bags of dog treats and a tasty meat chew. You can expect a value of $30-$40 worth of dog toys and treats in each month’s BarkBox, for as low as $21/month including Free US Shipping. Read on to see what we thought of the April BarkBox.

Daisy gets the large dog box which is shown in all our BarkBox reviews, but whatever size your dog is, they will get the same number of toys and treats in appropriate sizes. Treats are also customized based on whether you specify food allergies in your dog’s BarkBox profile.

We hope you’ll stay for our BarkBox review but if you are just here for the BarkBox coupon, promo code WOOFWOOFMAMA will get you a FREE extra month added to any order of 1-month or more at BarkBox.com/woofwoofmama.

April  BarkBox Dog Toys

Pooch Hooch Dog Toy ($10 retail value) No real booze in this jug. Just a big tube squeaker, crackling crinkle, and a handle for tug.

Betty Bootlegger Dog Toy ($10 retail value) Daisy is spending all her time hanging out with this dame. She’s got a booming ball squeaker and crackling crinkle paper.

I love that each BarkBox toy comes with info about the features of each item. Just one of the many details and special touches that makes this the best dog box we’ve seen!

BarkBox dog toys are always super cute and unique. This month was no exception…in fact, this month might just be the most original yet but it’s hard to say because the BarkBox folks never fail to surprise and delight us with something new in each month’s box. Not every dog gets the same toys in their BarkBox, so here’s a look at some of the variations.

April BarkBox Dog Treats

Duck Soup Dog Treats ($5 retail value) Real duck is the first ingredient. Grain-free, all-natural recipe with wholesome pears, nutritious cranberries and honey for natural sweetness.

Fish Flask Dog Treats ($5 Retail value) Real codfish is the first ingredient in this grain-free, all-natural dog treat. Also includes wholesome potatoes and bananas.

Thinkers Chicken Dog Chew Stick ($3 retail value) Chicken and nourishing fish oils make this chew from Plato a brain-boosting treat. Made in the USA with no wheat, soy, or corn.

We were super happy with this month’s BarkBox goodies, but accidentally received a chicken treats, which Daisy can’t have. I may have forgotten to update her profile when I renewed our subscription. No problem though, because if you ever receive a toy or treat that doesn’t make you happy or that isn’t suitable for your dog, BarkBox will send you a FREE replacement with no questions asked. You don’t even have to send back the unwanted item. They encourage you to donate or share it, and will send you a replacement more to your dog’s liking! It’s part of their Scout’s Honor Satisfaction Guarantee that comes with every delivery.

There are always extras and fun surprises in each BarkBox, so be sure to flip over the cardboard liner and check the back. In keeping with the theme of speakeasies and prohibition, this month’s extra surprise is a super cute sign your dog can use to demand toys and treats. Very cute as a photo prop for your dog’s Instagram or other social media!

BarkBox Cost and Value

By our calculation, this month’s BarkBox had $33 worth of dog toys and  treats if you were to purchase them all separately.

That’s a great value when you consider that subscription prices start at $21/month with free US Shipping.

In addition to saving money, we also love the WOW-factor and excitement of getting a new delivery of surprises each month. It’s a chance to discover new dog treats and toys that we might not have known about otherwise. And the BarkBox toys are really Instagram-worthy, making them the perfect photo props in addition to some amazing and unique dog toys!

January BarkBox Dog Toys

This month, the two BarkBox toys actually combine to make one larger toy. It’s interactive, and even holds treats. It’s a Build-Your-Own-Snowman dog toy and it didn’t disappoint!

Winter Bod Dog Toy ($10 retail value) This is the bottom half of the snowman. His arms are branches that pull through for tug, and velcro on top so the head sticks on. He’s also got a big squeaker and lots of plush fur to chew and gnaw.

Toboggan Noggin Dog Toy ($10 retail value) This treat dispensing dog toy is the snowman’s head. To make his face, you plug in your BarkBox dog treats for the eyes and nose. He’s pretty hilarious and we had a lot of fun doing his face over and over again so that Daisy could eat his eyes and nose.

BarkBox dog toys are always super cute and original. This month was no exception…in fact, this month might just be the most fun yet but it’s hard to say because the BarkBox folks never fail to surprise and delight us with something new in each month’s box. Not every dog gets the same toys in their BarkBox, so here’s a look at some of the variations.

January BarkBox Dog Treats

The two bags of dog treats were specially designed to be the noses and eyes for the snowman face toy. We received a bonus chew stick this month…double the meaty goodness!

Snowman Nose Nibbles Dog Treats ($5 retail value)  Lamb is the first ingredient in an all-natural recipe that also includes wholesome ingredients like cranberries, carrots, and turmeric, a spice with anti-inflammatory properties to promote healthy joints.

Snowman Peepers Dog Treats ($5 retail value) These dog treats make the eyes for the face and are big, chunky and chewy. We are glad we got a whole full-size bag of each so we can keep refilling the face!

Pork and Apple Chew Stick ($3 retail value) A hearty winter treat. It’s hard but chewy and can be broken into smaller pieces is you want to ration it.

Peanut Butter and Carob Stick Dog Chew ($3 retail value) This was actually a FREE BONUS TREAT! There is usually 1 dog chews in a BarkBox so this was an extra surprise and greatly appreciated. The dog-loving folks at Bark often surprise subscribers with bonus items like this.

We were super happy with this month’s BarkBox goodies, but know that if you ever receive a toy or treat that doesn’t make you happy or that isn’t suitable for your dog, BarkBox will send you a FREE replacement with no questions asked. You don’t even have to send back the unwanted item. They encourage you to donate or share it, and will send you a replacement more to your dog’s liking! It’s part of their Scout’s Honor Satisfaction Guarantee that comes with every delivery.

BarkBox Cost and Value

By our calculation, this month’s BarkBox had $36 worth of dog toys and  treats if you were to purchase them all separately.

That’s a great value when you consider that subscription prices start at $21/month with free US Shipping.

In addition to saving money, we also love the WOW-factor and excitement of getting a new delivery of surprises each month.

It’s a chance to discover new dog treats and toys that we might not have known about otherwise. And the BarkBox toys are really Instagram-worthy, making them the perfect photo props in addition to some amazing dog toys!
