Thinksport: Safer Water Bottles and Sunscreen + Support the Fight Against Cancer!

thinksport reviewThink all water bottles and sunscreen are the same? Think again! Many water bottles and sunscreen contain harmful materials or ingredients so even with these simple everyday items, you need to do your research.

By now, everyone should be aware of the concerns regarding BPA, a chemical compound frequently used in plastic bottles and other food containers.  One helpful source of info is EWG, the Environmental Working Group, which provides all kinds of info about safer food and products. They were among the first to warn about the dangers of BPA. EWG also manages a database called Skin Deep with safety ratings for skin and cosmetic products including sunscreen. Whether you have human babies, fur kids or are just concerned about your own health, I suggest you check them out.

Since we recently started Nutrisystem we are drinking LOTS of water and getting more serious about exercise. Plus, it’s finally cooling off down here, which means we can spend more time outdoors walking and playing with Daisy. Perfect timing to try a handy new water bottle and safer sunscreen from ThinkSport!

thinksport LIVESTRONG Insulated Sports Bottle

I almost feel silly telling you how much I LOVE this water bottle. In addition the being BPA-free, it’s alse free from all the other toxic chemicals we have to be concerned about like lead, cadmium, etc. That’s all great but what I really love about it is the design. It’s double-walled so it never sweats. It’s vacuum-sealed and keeps drinks hot or cold for HOURS…I tested it with hot tea one day and then iced tea the next and was so impressed!

mesh filter on thinksport bottle

If you like making tea as much as I do you will love the mesh filter that comes with this bottle. Just throw your loose tea leaves or bags in the bottle and fill it with hot water (be careful because it will stay really hot), put the mesh filter back in place and put the lid on. The wide mouth is great for easily adding ice to your bottle, too! When you drink, the filter stops the tea leaves, or ice from coming out when you drink!

There’s also a strap on the cap so you don’t have to worry about losing it or holding it if you are working out. This sports bottle holds 25 oz and retails for $19.99.

thinksport LIVESTRONG sunscreen SPF 50+

In addition to a top rating in the EWG Skin Deep database, this sunscreen is also water resistant and broad spectrum meaning it offers both UVA and UVB protection. It contains no PABA, Parabens or other harmful ingredients.  What I really like, in addition to all that, is that it contains only natural fragrance and is almost fragrance free – just smells clean. I wear sunscreen daily and hate to go around smelling like a tropical cocktail which is how most sunscreens smell! Also, because this is a “physical sunscreen” rather than a “chemical sunscreen” I don’t have to remember to apply it 30 minutes ahead of time. I just slap it on and go.

sunscreen

Since the active ingredient is zinc oxide, I’d imagines it would leave a white film but it doesn’t. The sunscreen is not greasy and absorbs quickly. I usually break out easily whenever I switch products and especially with high-SPF sunscreens, but haven’t had any trouble since using thinksport. This sunscreen comes in 3oz tube made of environmentally friendly packaging and retails for $15.99.

You might have noticed that these items carry the LIVESTRONG name. That means that in addition to helping you stay healthier, the purchase of these products help guarantee that a minimum of $1.5 million will support the LIVESTRONG organization’s fight against cancer. Other items available include safe baby bottles, yoga mats, sippy cups and more.
