    To the Judges:

Our family would be grateful to be blessed either $500 or $50. Our beagle, Lea, went on a rampage of heartbreak and insanity a few days after my husband deployed with his Army brigade this summer. During her fit of destruction, she managed to knock over our kitchen trash can for the first time ever. Her spoils included half a pound of dark chocolate and half a pound of milk chocolate (don’t judge me for a pound of chocolate having been in the trash! haha).

Because my husband was deployed I could not immediately ask his opinion on how to handle the situation. With our limited budget as a military family and her advanced age, the treatment might have been decided against with his input. My husband had her before we were married; I couldn’t make any decision other than to try to save her life with out my husband’s input since she is his baby.

Three days in doggie ICU and $1100 later she is just fine … but honestly we couldn’t afford it and it still hasn’t been paid off six months later. My husband was so grateful to come home to her last week – it made it worth it. But money-wise, it still has been a burden.

Being stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, 1,00 miles away from our family in North Carolina, makes travel this time of year expensive, and adds to the continued unplanned debt of the emergency care to save Lea’s life. Paying off the debt and having a little left over – or simply making another dent in it – would take a weight off of our minds.

Thank you for reading – and for your consideration. Your generous giveaway will be an amazing blessing to whomever your choose and I’m sure they will be a worthy party.

    Sincerely,
    Robin & Jay Brown
