I’m participating in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Cardstore. I received complimentary cards and a promotional item as a thank you for participating and to facilitate this post.

Can you believe we are already less than 2 weeks from Thanksgiving? I don’t know about you but I’ve got so much on my to-do list between now and the end of the year that I don’t know how I’ll fit it all in. It’s pretty much the same story every year, but with the way the calendar works out, Thanksgiving falls on Nov. 28. That means there are only 25 days between Black Friday and Christmas. That’s 6 LESS than last year!

holiday to do list

Before you get too stressed out thinking about this, take a few minutes to consider what you can knock off the list quickly NOW. I’ve decided to plan ahead this year and get my holiday cards done early so it’s one less thing I have to worry about later.

For the second year in a row, I’m using Cardstore.com to create and send personalized photo cards. They make it so fast and easy, I decided to create two versions this year: one from Daisy to her furry friends and one from our family to all of the humans on our Christmas card list. Since their online tools let you pull your favorite pet and family photos from Dropbox, Instagram, Facebook, Google Drive, and your PC or other device, it really speeds up the process of choosing and re-sizing photos. You can edit and personalize your card as much as you want until it’s perfect!

Don’t be afraid to experiment with layouts, pictures, messages, and signature. You can save several versions, then once you decide and preview your custom cards, Cardstore will print, stamp and send them out for you – helping to take one huge item off your already full holiday to-do list!

Many people include their pets in their family portraits but Woof Woof Papa and I can never get it together enough to take professional shots, so I usually just use a photo of  Daisy’s cute face that I’ve taken during the year. Cardstore has design templates for whatever style and theme you like to send, including animal-themed ones. Here’s the one I made for Daisy to send to all of her pet pals:

Natural Balance Belly Bites dog treats

Daisy and I just got our paws on some brand new treats from Natural Balance. They’re called Belly Bites and they are so yummy that your dog will do just about anything to get them! It was pretty difficult to take photos while Daisy was going through her best begging routine but I managed to get a couple shots of her playing dead and doing a pretty intense “watch me” while waiting for her reward!

Belly Bites dog treatsBelly Bites come in 3 formulas: Chicken & Legume, Duck & Legume, Salmon & Legume. They are a semi-moist, grain-free dog treats, and are a nice size for treating…and easy to break into tiny pieces for training!

Garfield 2014 calendar

You know what the best thing is about Tuesday? It’s NOT Monday! If you follow me on Facebook you already know I’m not a fan of Mondays…most people aren’t. One thing I AM a fan of is Garfield, so I was thrilled to receive an early review copy of the Garfield 2014 Wall Calendar. Each month features a new “I Hate Mondays” comic from cartoonist Jim Davis, creator of the Garfield series.

Not only will you want one for yourself, but the calendar makes a perfect choice for the annual office gift exchange at work, and a cute teacher gift from the kiddos, too. I’m planning to snag some extra copies for gift giving because there always end up being a few people who I run out of ideas for, and you just can’t go wrong with this one!

Garfield January

The Garfield 2014 Wall Calendar is available at Amazon, from the Calendar Store and through local retailers, so be sure to snag some copies now and guarantee that every Monday-hater and Garfield-lover on your Holiday Gift List will enjoy 12 months of hilarious Monday-bashing for 2014!

THROW THE DAMN BALL: Classic Poetry by Dogs

Throw The Damn Ball

I don’t know about you, but I love this time of year because of all the great dog-related gift books that are released in time for the holiday shopping season! We were happy to get our paws on the fun and funky new book Throw The Damn Ball: Classic Poetry by Dogs from best-selling authors R. D. Rosen, Harry Prichett and Rob Battles.

It’s a collection of humorous poetry and cute color photos, perfect as a stocking stuffer for any dog-loving poetry buff on your list. The clever and amusing poems pay tribute to the important things that really matter to a dog — love, loss, sex, friendship, meals, and bodily functions. Literary fans will recognize a dog’s take on some of the classics in human poetry including an homage to Emily Dickinson and other great poets.  I’d recommend this book for adults only, as some of the dog humor is a bit explicit, but probably exactly what a dog would write about LOL! It’s a quick read and great as a bathroom book, as Woof Woof Papa pointed out. (TMI, I know!)

Throw The Damn Ball: Classic Poetry by Dogs is available now in hardcover at Amazon and local bookstores.

too cute puppies and kittens books

Warning: These books contain material that is just TOO cute! Reader discretion is advised.

Are you a fan of the Animal Planet TV series, Too Cute? We are! Woof Woof Papa and I love watching it whenever we can catch it and get so carried away cooing and ooohing and aahing over the ridiculous and adorable antics of the new puppies and kitties each week that Daisy often starts hunting around trying to figure out the cause of such a fuss! She hasn’t figured out how to watch TV yet so she doesn’t know what she’s missing. You can probably guess how excited I was to receive early review copies of the new books based on the series, and as you can see, Daisy couldn’t wait to get her paws on them either!

Whether you’ve caught the show or not, you won’t want to miss these super CUTE new hardcover books Animal Planet’s TOO CUTE PUPPIES and TOO CUTE KITTENS (Harlequin Nonfiction; on sale Oct 29). They are also a great gift idea for pet lovers of any age and would make an ideal stocking stuffer, teacher gift or thoughtful way of thanking your dog groomer, favorite vet tech or other human in your fur kid’s life.

Both books are also great for reading aloud together with younger children, since there are photos with entertaining captions, facts and anecdotes on each page. Early readers and older kiddos will love the books too!
