TRICARE Info 2016

I know first hand that military family life can get hectic and that there’s lots to juggle to keep it all together. When it comes to keeping your family finances organized, the New Year is a great opportunity to take a moment and check to see that you are on top of any changes to insurance premiums including health, dental and car insurance. It’s important we stay in the know about our rates so there aren’t any surprises down the road.

That’s why I’m working with MetLife TRICARE Dental Program to make you aware that there will be changes to the monthly premiums effective February 1, 2016. Premiums vary based on the sponsor’s military status and type of enrollment.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and take a few minutes to sit down and check your monthly premiums to see if they’ve changed. Also please take the time to help spread the word by sharing this with any military moms and dads you know! The chart below offers at at-a-glance summary:

Finding the lowest prices on pet meds

Finding the best price on pet meds is a constant challenge. There are often several factors to consider when deciding who really has the “best” deal. These can include current sales which vary from site to site, promo codes, loyalty rewards, tax & shipping costs, gift cards or store credit you have and want to spend, and reputation of the pet store or website.

Too good to be true?

Sometimes a deal really IS too good to be true…especially in the case of pet meds. You want to always make sure that you are getting the genuine pet product when it comes to flea & tick products and other pet meds where the efficacy really matters. That means doing your research and shopping at reputable stores and websites.

Things to keep in mind when buying pet meds
  • Prices and deals change frequently so even if a store or site is the lowest today doesn’t mean they will be tomorrow
  • Just because one website has the best price on a given size or quantity doesn’t mean they are always the lowest on every size and quantity of that brand
  • Generic is often a better deal but speak with your veterinarian to be sure you are making the right choice for your pet
  • Different stores carry different brands (again speak with your vet about brands and doses)
  • You may receive different/additional offers or discount codes via store email or loyalty memberships
  • Local pet stores and vet offices may match online prices so check if you prefer to shop locally

6 count frontline plus dogs

All that being said, here’s our rundown of where to find the lowest current price on Frontline Plus, 6 dose for dogs 45-88 pounds. Prices include FREE Shipping unless otherwise noted.

Prices on Frontline Plus for Dogs (as of 8/23/15)

  • Pet360.com $74.98 (Get an Extra Dose when choosing Auto Ship)
  • PetCareRx.com $76.30 (w/ Promo Code EXTRA20)
  • 1800PetMeds.com $84.98 (Spend $15.02 more to get $5 OFF)
  • Drugstore.com $89.99 (10% OFF future orders w/ Auto-Reorder)
  • Petco.com $98.41 ($30 FREE eGift Card w/ Repeat Delivery)
  • PetSmart.com $100.99

Note: Regular readers might be wondering why we didn’t list Amazon.com prices for Frontline Plus, since we are BIG fans of Amazon’s deals and Prime Free 2-Day Shipping. This is because sellers can vary on Amazon and we prefer to stick with authorized retailers and accredited pet pharmacy websites to reduce any possible risk of receiving expired or even counterfeit pet meds. If you see a lower price from a seller you trust for pet meds on Amazon, go for it! Again, when in doubt ask your pet’s veterinarian for recommendations and advice.

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to get and stay more organized this year. Part of that includes managing our household budget, and keeping up with changes to costs of things like our cable bill, cell phone charges and health insurance so we’re not caught off guard by.

If you are a military family enrolled in the MetLife TRICARE Dental Plan (TDP), it’s important for you to take a few minutes to review and familiarize yourself with changes to 2015 premiums that go into effect on February 1st. Even if this doesn’t affect you directly, please be sure to share this with any military moms and dads you know…military family life can be hectic, and they will appreciate the update.

Premiums vary depending on the number of members enrolled and the sponsor’s status (Active Duty, Selected Reserve, Individual Ready Reserve). See the chart below for the MetLife TRICARE 2015 Dental Premiums:

In addition to reviewing costs, it’s also equally important to make sure you are aware of all the benefits of your health and dental plans. The MetLife TRICARE Facebook Page is a great place to start. Several times a week, they post fun facts and info in the form of trivia questions. I learn something new each time I visit. For example, with TDP, family members are covered regardless of a sponsor’s change in status to and from active duty. How great is that!?!

Highlights and benefits also include:

  • Access to one of the largest civilian dental networks – over 250,000 dental locations
  • No annual deductible
  • Cost savings when a MetLife TDP participating dentist is used
  • 2 dental cleanings and exams in a 12-month period + additional 3rd cleaning for pregnant women
  • Worldwide dental coverage (CONUS and OCONUS)

Not yet enrolled? Enrolling is a 12-month commitment, but after completing the 12-month minimum enrollment period, you can continue on a month-to-month basis. To learn about dental plan benefits for military families, or to enroll, visit the MetLife TRICARE website.

It’s hard to believe that before the end of this week, it will be 2015 already…but it’s true! And the end of the year is the perfect time to do a little bit of preparation and planning for a healthy and happy New Year. I like to take advantage of this time to do a little bit of cleaning and organizing: out with the old and in with the new! I got a super CUTE new 2015 calendar and am already filling it with all our appointments and other important plans. That way when we ring in the new year and I make my annual resolution to ‘be more organized’ I’ll already be a step ahead!

The end of the year is a great time to review your dental benefits, schedule appointments, and plan your family budget for 2015. The TRICARE Dental Program is ideal for military families because it is a convenient and cost effective way for families to have continuous dental coverage despite changes in life events, geographical locations, or military status. The MetLife TRICARE Dental Program provides low cost monthly premiums and offers a cost share for a variety of dental procedures. I suggest you bookmark the TRICARE Dental Care Premiums page so you’ll have fast access to costs and coverage whenever you need it.

In addition to providing low cost coverage, the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program is also dedicated to educating members about dental health and important dental care practices. Connecting with TRICARE’s Facebook page and signing up for Dental HealthMatters Newsletter are two great ways to stay in the know with TRICARE. Celebrating Military Family Appreciation Month #sponsored #MetLifeTDP

Did you know that November is National Military Family Appreciation Month? If you know a friend, neighbor or relative in the military, this is a great time to let them know how thankful you are for their service as well how much you appreciate the service and sacrifices of their whole family.

Woof Woof Papa served in the US Army and did 2 active duty deployments, so as the wife of an Army veteran, I can tell you that a day doesn’t go by without me taking time to be thankful for his safe return. It was a difficult time having him away, and there was lots to worry about with his safety, and taking care of things at home while he was gone.

One thing that I really appreciate NOT to have to stress out about during those tough times was health care. That’s because active duty service members AND their families are eligible for a special program called the TRICARE Health Plan, which also includes the opportunity to enroll in the TRICARE Dental Program.

About MetLife TRICARE Dental for Military Families

MetLife TRICARE Dental provides dental benefits to spouses and children of Active Duty personnel and National Guard and Reserve members and their families. It’s ideal for military families because it is a convenient and cost effective way for families to have continuous dental coverage despite changes in life events, geographical locations, or military status. Regardless of where a military family is located, coverage can be accessed from the large network of dental providers worldwide.

Families enrolled in the TRICARE Dental Program are eligible for low cost premiums, free annual exams, and discounts on orthodontist services. As I’m sure you do, I place a high value on my families health and well-being, so I think you’ll really appreciate how cost effective, flexible, and easily accessible the program is.
