earn free kibble for shelter animals by answering trivia questions!

Before you get started snagging all kinds of free stuff for you and your pets, take a sec to help feed shelter animals and visit FreeKibble.com to answer a daily trivia question and earn free pet food for needy rescue pets.

Hopefully you had a chance last Friday to check out my roundup of Popular Sites for Printable Coupons and Money Saving Deals Around the Web. This week I thought I’d do a rundown of some of the top places to go online to find Free Stuff, Samples and Trial Offers.  In addition to saving you money, sample offers and freebies are fun because they give you the opportunity to try new products and brands you might not otherwise buy, without any expense or commitment! Because signing up for free stuff can tend to increase the amount of emails you receive, you should only signup for offers you want, and you might consider setting up one email account that you use especially for new offer signups!

get free samples and products from freeflys

Get Free Samples of brand name products and other Free Stuff at freeflys.com. I recently saw some pet food freebies here, including Rachael Ray’s Nutrish, but these change all the time. After you join for free you also get to complete surveys for more rewards and free stuff.

That Freebie Site for free samples and coupons

A similar source of free samples and products is That Freebie Site. They update you daily (or as soon as new samples or coupons become available) so you always know when new free stuff is offered. Unlike some freebie sites you may see advertised online that offer gimmicks or make you refer a bunch of friends, this site takes pride in only posting real freebies and samples.

Coolsavings

Cool Savings is a well-established and longstanding source of all kinds of free offers, samples and coupons. They often have offers from PetSmart and other pet supply brands and have price comparison tools and more!

Free Samples and Coupons from Deals for Mommy

In addition to offering coupons, Deals for Mommy is also a great source for free samples and other valuable offers from brands you know and trust. As a member of the free online community you can share and find access to all kinds of money saving tips and ideas, too!

Woman Freebies is a site where you can find samples, coupons, sweepstakes and freebies from your favorite big brands specially chosen by women for women. Offers change all the time but you’ll find health & beauty items, home goods and cleaning products, and other samples and freebies to help you save money and try new brands.

A final tip for getting Free Samples: if there is a brand or product that you’d like to try, be sure to visit them on Facebook and Twitter. More and more companies are offering exclusive opportunities for product sampling through social media. If all else fails, visit the brand’s website and use the Contact Us link to send them a message letting them know you’d really like a sample. They will almost always send you a coupon or trial size!

Next week I’ll be highlighting some Survey sites where you can earn points, rewards, gift cards or even cash for taking surveys or answering questionnaires online! 5 Pro Tips for Taking Great Pet Photos

SLC Pawtography Pro Tips for Great Pet Photos

I recently caught up with my pal Uschi, who just happens to be a professional pet photographer and mom to super-pup Sawyer (photo above). With the holidays coming up, I asked if she would share a few tips to help all of us pet parents capture some special shots of our own fur kids. Here’s her expert advice on simple tips we can all try ourselves…

1. Pick the right light:  Ideally you would want to take the pictures outside to take advantage of the natural light. If you need to shoot inside, avoid the flash. Instead, take the photos in an area with lots of available light, for example by a large window or a glass door.
2. Be aware of the background:  Outside, find an area without buildings or other distractions. Inside, remove clutter or put up a backdrop.
3. Make sure your pets are relaxed and not paying attention to the camera:  Use treats or toys to distract them from the camera and try to catch them behaving naturally. If possible, have a second person around to keep the pet’s attention.
4. Use a fast shutter speed:  Since animals twitch and jump for unknown reasons at the most unexpected moments you should shoot at the fastest shutter speed possible. Either set your camera to shutter priority and set the highest speed or, if your camera doesn’t have shutter speed control, try the sports or action setting.
5. Most importantly, keep your camera around:  Have your camera handy whenever you can so you can catch your pet doing the things they do naturally. You can spend a lot of time staging pictures and have your pets pose, but you’ll often get better photos just by waiting for your pets to express their unique personality.
