Are you and your dog participating in K9 Kamp Fitness Challenge? We sure hope you’re having better weather than Daisy and I are here…it’s been terrible and we already had our first Tropical Storm of the 2013 hurricane season!
We won’t bore you with all the details, which mainly involve me doing my Hip Hop Abs DVD in the living room while Daisy laughed at me, but I did want to make sure to share this cool free phone app I discovered recently called Charity Miles.
You can use it to earn free donations for your favorite charity when you walk, run or bike! Choose from ASPCA, Habitat for Humanity, The Nature Conservancy and loads more worthwhile causes and not only does this app track your miles but it also makes a donation on your behalf. It’s as easy as this: get moving. Bikers earn 10¢ a mile and walkers and runners earn 25¢ a mile!
Charity Miles is a free app available for both Apple and Android devices. Visit their website or check out this video to learn more:
Imagine how much money we could raise for charity if all the K9 Kampers use this cool app! Be sure to leave us a comment letting us know how you’re doing with this month’s fitness challenge. Then head on over to K9 Kamp HQ and enter to win some paw-tastic prizes for participating!
What a great app combining fitness with money for charity, thank you so much for sharing it with us on FitDog Friday and K9 Kamp! I hope the weather shapes up soon for you and Daisy!
Thanks! We’re getting a bit stir crazy being stuck indoors!
This is AWESOME! Downloading now. I use MapMyDogWalk, but it’d be nice to put my miles (though not many) to good use! 🙂
Definitely going to switch to this one!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
What a GREAT app! I’ve got the Android now & will start using it when I walk Vlad and Barkly every day. Vlad’s joints aren’t old enough to run yet, but I’ve been trying to follow along with the K9 Camp and walk him extra the past month since it’s warmer. He’s old enough now to start trying to build some muscle mass & exercise is the only thing that’s going to do that.
I’m hoping he’s cleared for carrying a backpack and water-bottles soon. When he is, I’ll start using those to help, but we’re going to start using this app no matter what!
