Dog lovers, October is always one of our favorite BarkBox months, and this year’s Halloween BarkBox might just be the best one yet! It’s filled with fun and frightful surprises, and we’re here to tell you all about it with our latest BarkBox review and unboxing.
Each month’s theme is different, and this month the BarkBox theme is Return of the Frankentoys. It’s a spooky assortment of freakishly cute dog toys and tasty treats, because what would Halloween be without some treats!?!
As with each month’s dog subscription box from BarkBox, this one included 2 fun toys inspired by the theme (spoiler alert: this month’s toys are actually 4 toys in all), plus 2 full-size bags of dog treats and a tasty meat chew. You can expect a value of $40-$50 worth of dog toys and treats in each month’s BarkBox, for as low as $21/month including Free US Shipping. Read on to see what we thought of this month’s BarkBox.
Every dog’s BarkBox can be customized for their size and food sensitivities. If you want a deal, use our BarkBox coupon code WOOFWOOFMAMA at BarkBox.com to get a FREE month when you order 1 month or longer.
Daisy gets the large dog box which is shown in our BarkBox reviews, but whatever size your dog is, they will get the same number of toys and treats in appropriate sizes.

October BarkBox Dog Toys
This month, instead of 2 ordinary dog toys, the mad scientists at BarkBox created some Frankentoys! Each one has separate tops and bottoms so that you can mix and match to make your own creature.
- Ernesto Ballerino ($12 retail value) Part fish and part ballerina.
- Franken Flossie ($12 retail value) Part bird and part possum
As you can see, they have Velcro so that you can switch up the characters, and Daisy had loads of fun ripping them apart, so they’re really like having 4 toys instead of 2.
Each plush dog toy has crinkle filling and squeaker disk.
October BarkBox Dog Treats
- Duck Blueberry Franken Snacks Dog Treats ($8 retail value) As with all BarkBox dog treats, these are made in the USA with all-natural ingredients. These are small bites that are great as training treats.
- Bacon Blackberry Franken Snacks Dog Cookies ($8 retail value) Daisy will always do tricks for bacon treats! These cookies make the perfect snack and the full-size bag is big enough to share with your fellow trick-or-treaters.
- Plato Pet Treats Thinkers Duck Stick ($3 retail value) One of our favorite treats from one of our favorite brands. Called Thinkers because this dog snack is packed full of DHA and Omega-3 fatty acid famous for its cognitive benefits. This treat is true brain food.
In addition to all the amazing dog toys and treats, BarkBox usually includes some extra bonus items, photo props or other surprises depending on the theme of the month. This month we got 2 extra surprises: Mad Scientist Goggles (great photo prop for Instagram) and some “Candy Bars” (free BarkBox coupons) to share with our dog pals and trick-or-treaters on Halloween!
As usual, this month’s Barkbox also included info with details on the theme and what’s in the box.
Barkbox Cost and Value
By our calculation, this month’s BarkBox had $43 worth of dog toys, treats and chews if you were to purchase them all separately. That’s makes a subscription a real bargain when you consider that plans starts as low as $21/month with free US shipping included.
