We are always on the lookout for heathier snacks and all-natural treats for ourselves and for Daisy. Our search recently led us to Newman’s Own Organics. As the name implies, the company was co-founded by Paul Newman and the products are certified organic by Oregon Tilth. We’ve spent the past couple of weeks sampling several yummy items and wanted to let you know about a few of our favorites.
I’ve never been that much of a sweet tooth, but I do admit to loving sour candies and licorice so the Newman’s Own Organics Licorice Twists are a winner in my book! In addition to traditional black licorice, which you either love or hate depending on what kind of person you are, they also have sour varieties that make my mouth water just thinking about them. I also discovered Pomegranate Licorice Twists which are my newest favorite thing!
Daisy’s Papa and I also really love the Honey Wheat Pretzels, the Hermit Cookies and their 100% Premium Organic Chocolate Bars, especially the Espresso Dark Chocolate with 54% Cocoa (I said I wasn’t a sweet tooth but anything with dark chocolate and espresso should count as its own food group in my book!).
Not only do they make amazing candy, pretzels, cookies and other snacks for humans, but they also have a line of pet products which Daisy has been hard at work testing! These Newman’s Own Organics products are also certified organic and made with all-natural ingredients.

We’re still a few weeks away from the official start of Fall, but we’re already getting in the spirit of the season thanks to the kickoff of college football season and some yummy new treats from Three Dog Bakery. The kind folks there were nice enough to send us a couple of their latest offerings so that we could try them and let you know what we think. Now let’s just get this out of the way…when I say “we” that usually means Daisy tests and I write about it. But when it comes to the tasty baked goods from Three Dog, it really does mean WE tried them! Not only are their treats made in the USA with human-grade, all-natural ingredients, but they are just about as irresistible to humans (at least to this one) as they are to the fur kids. So yes, I’m guilty of stealing Daisy’s cookies!
In addition to the deliciousness factor, Three Dog Bakery always impresses us with their cool packaging and the special little details that make their treats unique. When I heard they were sending Daisy some Tomato Soup and Cheese Wafers, I should have guessed they would show up in an actual soup can…how perfect! Inside this iconic soup can are grilled cheese squares and tomato soup rounds.
If I had to choose, I think the cheese squares win but both are yummy and made from wholesome ingredients including honey, parmesan cheese, tomato paste and other stuff you will recognize and be able to pronounce! Daisy loved them both equally.
And what’s better on a chilly Fall afternoon than a spiced latte??? A Pup-kin Spiced Latte made with oven-baked pumpkin dog treats, to be exact! These yummy cookies are made with pumpkin, vanilla, ginger and cinnamon and arrive in a container that looks just like those fancy coffee drinks that we humans like so much. I love these as a gift idea, and Daisy is crazy for them.
Although these fancy treats might seem like an extravagance, their prices are comparable with other premium dog treats made from quality ingredients and the “wow-factor” can’t be beat…especially if you are looking for a unique gift. The Tomato Soup and Cheese Wafers are 13oz for $12.50 and the Pup-kin Latte is $8.99 for 9oz. Remember that you should only give your pup a few cookies a day anyway, so they will last you!
