Super Chewer BarkBox Review February 2018

Some posts may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

If you’re tired of spending money on dog toys that don’t last and dog treats that never seem to satisfy, then you will want to know about the BarkBox Super Chewer Edition. The makers of BarkBox have created a special edition of their popular dog subscription box, made especially for dogs who chew harder and demand a challenge. It even comes with FREE toy replacement!

The Super Chewer BarkBox makes a great gift for dogs of all ages and sizes, so read on to learn more.

Just like with the Classic BarkBox, the Super Chewer edition is a monthly dog subscription box with toys, treats and goodies for your dog. And, since extreme chewers come in all sizes, the subscription can be customized for your dog’s size in your choice of small, medium or large. Each month, your dog’s Super Chewer BarkBox contains heavy duty chews, all-natural treats, and challenging, strong toys that you can’t find together anywhere else. The extra durable toys are made for world-class toy destroyers like your pup!

Each month’s box has a different them and  usually contains 2 tough dog toys, 2 all-natural treats and 2 meaty chews. The theme for February was Paradise Unleashed and we were digging the tropical vibe!

Here’s a look at what was in the February Super Chewer BarkBox along with the retail values of each item if purchased separately:

BarkBox Super Chewer Dog Toys

Fetchin’ Waves Surfboard Dog Toy ($14 retail value) This is one of those BarkBox original toys that is similar to a Nylabone. It’s super durable nylon and enriched with real dehydrated chicken, your pup will love to gnaw on. This is one of those toys that really calls for supervision but can be really fun for extreme chewers.

Tough Tiki Pole Dog Toy ($14 retail value) We didn’t realize at first but in addition to being a toy you can stuff treats into, this fun rubber dog toy detaches into multiple parts for extra bouncy fun so it’s really like 3-toys-in-1!

Worried about getting a toy your dog doesn’t like or you don’t find suitable? Not a problem because BarkBox will replace anything that doesn’t meet your standards. It’s their Scout’s Honor Satisfaction Guarantee. Just email them at happy@BarkBox.com and they will send a replacement toy or treat. No fuss and no charge.

BarkBox Super Chewer Dog Treats

Tiki Treats from Healthy Dogma ($8 retail value) These pork and pineapple dog treats are made in the USA without wheat, corn, or soy. Wholesome and delicious (according to Daisy).

Hula Hearts Dog Treats ($8 retail value) Real lamb and bacon, in cute heart shaped dog treats. We heart them because they are USA without wheat, corn, or soy, so they are as wholesome as they are delicious!

Doggie Biscotti ($4 retail value) This tough chew is packed with protein. It’s 100% pork hide with no fillers, by-products or preservatives. Made in the USA, from the folks at SawMill Creek.

Full Pig Ear Dog Chew ($5 retail value) Also sourced and made in the USA by the folks at Sawmill Creek, this tough dog chew makes sure that no part of the pig goes to waste and is super long-lasting. I only give chews like this to Daisy for a few minutes and then put it in the fridge or freezer to save for another time. Some dogs do fine chowing down on a whole one in one sitting, but we are very cautious and limit her treats to keep her tummy happy.

BarkBox Super Chewer Cost and Value

By our calculation, this month’s BarkBox Super Chewer edition had $53 worth of dog toys, treats and chews if you were to purchase them all separately. That’s makes a subscription a real bargain when you consider that plans starts as low as $29/month with free US shipping included.

In addition to saving money, we also love the WOW-factor and excitement of getting a new delivery of surprises each month. It’s a chance to discover new dog treats and toys that we might not have known about otherwise.  Not only are the toys fun and challenging, but they are also built to last.

This month the usual info card was replaced with a super cute resort ‘brochure’. Love those extra little touches, so creative! And there is always a hashtag so that you can share pics and see what other dogs got in their BarkBox, too.

Time to unbox and review this month’s BarkBox, and we are LOVING the tropical vibe! Living in South Florida, we are always ready to enjoy some sun and sand, but the toys and treats made us feel like we are on Spring Break…Daisy put on her Hawaiian Shirt, so you know she is ready to party!

The theme for the February BarkBox Classic was Paradise Unleashed and it did NOT disappoint.  Here’s a look at what was in the February Classic BarkBox along with the retail values of each item if purchased separately:

February BarkBox Dog Toys

Penny the Pineapple Dog Toy ($14 retail value) This is one of those BarkBox originals that is 2-toys-in-1. It’s got a spikey ball and crinkle material, plus a hidden bonus toy inside. I can’t wait til Daisy rips into hers so we can see what we got!

Cecil’s SeaShell Dog Toy ($14 retail value) This squeaky toy is too cute. It’s also got a spikey ball core and Daisy loves the fuzzy part!

February BarkBox Dog Treats

Tiki Treats from Healthy Dogma ($8 retail value) These pork and pineapple dog treats are made in the USA without wheat, corn, or soy. Wholesome and delicious (according to Daisy).
Beast of the Feast Dog Treats ($10 retail value) Feels like we are at a luau with these pork and apple dog treats! Also made in the USA without wheat, corn, or soy.
Doggie Biscotti ($4 retail value) This tough chew is packed with protein. It’s 100% pork hide with no fillers, by-products or preservatives. Made in the USA, from the folks at SawMill Creek.

Be aware that as a BarkBox customer, if you ever receive a toy or treat that doesn’t meet your standards, you can contact BarkBox and they will send a free replacement. It’s part of their Scout’s Honor satisfaction guarantee, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the service we’ve received in the 6 or so years we’ve been subscribers!

BarkBox Cost and Value

By our calculation, this month’s BarkBox had $50 worth of dog toys and  treats if you were to purchase them all separately. That’s a great value when you consider that subscription prices start at $21/month with free US shipping. In addition to saving money, we also love the WOW-factor and excitement of getting a new delivery of surprises each month. It’s a chance to discover new dog treats and toys that we might not have known about otherwise.

This BarkBox is so fun and totally put us in the vacay mood! It even came included a resort ‘brochure’ instead of the usual info card. Love the extra attention to detail.

Just like with the Classic BarkBox, the Super Chewer edition is a monthly dog subscription box with toys, treats and goodies for your dog. The extra durable toys are made for world-class toy destroyers like your pup!

Each month’s box has a different them and  usually contains 2 tough dog toys, 2 all-natural treats and 2 meaty chews. The theme for January was The Knights of the Hound Table, celebrating the age of ‘King Arfur’ with treats for a jolly feast and toys fit for a royal adventure.

Here’s a look at what was in the January Super Chewer BarkBox along with the retail values of each item if purchased separately:

BarkBox Super Chewer Dog Toys

Winchewter Castle Dog Toy ($14 retail value) This is a super squeaky rubber toy that is built to last. So far, Daisy likes to carry it around and fling it to the ground and then chase it as it bounces away. So fun!

Excaligrrr Sword Dog Toy ($14 retail value) Based on the Arthurian legend of The Sword and The Stone, we haven’t discovered its magical powers yet but it seems unbreakable!

A few people have mentioned that the castle toy didn’t hold up as well as they would have liked, but not to worry because BarkBox will replace anything that doesn’t meet your standards. It’s their Scout’s Honor Satisfaction Guarantee. Just email them at happy@BarkBox.com and they will send a replacement toy or treat. No fuss and no charge.

BarkBox Super Chewer Dog Treats

Friar Hogg’s Hearty Stew ($8 retail value) Made in the USA, these all-natural pork and veggie treats are as wholesome as an old-fashioned pot of soup.

Banquet Feast ($8 retail value) Also made in the USA, these little nuggets are whole turkey dinner in a tiny, tasty treat.  A touch of honey adds just the right bit of sweetness.

Plato Pet Treats Thinkers Duck Stick ($3 retail value) One of our favorite treats from one of our favorite brands. Called Thinkers because this dog snack is packed full of DHA and Omega-3 fatty acid famous for its cognitive benefits. This treat is true brain food.

Etta Says! Deer Recipe Crunchy Stick ($3 retail value) Also one of our favorites. We’d love to see an Etta Says! crunchy treats stick in every box! Made from American deer, these chews are easily digestible and great for teeth and gums.

A note about the treats: after receiving our shipping notification this month, we received an email from BarkBox customer service letting us know that instead of our usual allergy-free treats, they accidentally shipped us treats with turkey and rice, so they were sending some replacement treats at no charge. This is just one example of the GREAT customer service we’ve always received during the 5 or so years we’ve been BarkBox subscribers.

In addition to the super durable dog toys and longer lasting treats, each BarkBox also includes some fun extras and surprises to enhance the theme and experience.

An example of the fun extras that BarkBox creates is the tear-out crown that came as part of the info card included with each box. Check out Queen Daisy with castle!

And just as with the Classic BarkBox, the the attention to detail in the Super Chewer edition goes all the way to the paper lining, which always matches the monthly theme of each box. This month’s wrapping was a cool tapestry design with castles and dragons, plus a long Mad Libs style fill-in the blanks scroll on the other side so that you can create your dog’s ‘tail’ of epic adventure!

January BarkBox Dog Toys

Sir Chester’s Jester ($14 retail value) A spiky ball covered in furry plush and attached to a fluff-filled hat with long, shreddable pom poms. Daisy always has fun with this type of toy because it’s really 2 toys in 1. After the outer layer is ripped to shreds, the spiky ball is great fun on its own!

Ye Olde Ball & Chain ($14 retail value) This is both a squeaker dog toy and a tug toy, made with t-shirt rope. It’s perfect for throwing, fetch and just carrying around to look tough.

January BarkBox Dog Treats

Friar Hogg’s Hearty Stew ($8 retail value) Made in the USA, these all-natural pork and veggie treats are as wholesome as an old-fashioned pot of soup.

BarkBox Super Chewer Review November 2017

Some posts may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Dog moms and dads, are you tired of spending money on toys that don’t last and wimpy treats that don’t satisfy? The makers of BarkBox have created a SUPER CHEWER edition of their super popular dog subscription box, made especially for dogs who chew harder and demand a challenge. The Super Chewer BarkBox makes a great holiday gift for dogs, so read on to learn more!

Each month’s BarkBox has a different theme and this month the theme was Pupstate Orchards, celebrating the bounty of the harvest. The paper in the box always matches the theme and is filled with fun surprises. This month is extra CUTE because the dog looks just like Daisy!

The Super Chewer BarkBox usually contains 2 dog toys, 2 or 3 treats and a chew, but this month had a bonus because one of the toys came with treat refills included. Read on to see what toys and treats were in this month’s BarkBox for Super Chewers along with estimated retail value if you were to purchase each item separately.

Super Chewer BarkBox Dog Toys

Rumble Berry Pie Dog Toy ($12 retail value) This pie shaped dog toy is fun on its own, but is designed so that you can put kibble or treats in it. Bounce it and the treats fly out, or give it to your dog and let them figure it out for themselves! Made in the USA of 100% tummy-safe rubber.

Bouncy Buddy Bone Treat Toy for Dogs ($12 retail value) Made by PetSafe, this is a combination chew toy and treat puzzle dogs love. It’s got a super-tough and bouncy rubber ball with a durable nylon bone through the middle to add some excitement to playtime. The nylon bones on either side detach, so you can attach the treat rings to the rubber ball.

Treat Ring Refills for Buddy Bone Dog Toy ($10 retail value) A whole bag of bacon flavored, gluten free dog treats that fit perfectly on the Buddy Bone toy. Yummy and long-lasting, just what every dog wants! (These are treats but since they go with the bone toy, I’ve listed them under toys)

Super Chewer BarkBox Dog Treats

Yum in the Oven Duck Cranberry Dog Treats ($12 retail value) Made in the USA with rich, meaty duck as the first ingredient. These tasty treats also have cranberries, flaxseed and natural smoke flavor.

Butcher’s Block 6″ Krunchie Tube ($3 retail value) 100% quality beef treat from Omaha, Nebraska. Lots of Chondroitin and Glucosamine to support bone and joint health in dogs. Daisy just likes them because they taste great!

Etta Says! Crunchy 7″ Premium Elk Chew ($3 retail value) I’ve mentioned this before, but Daisy loves all the crunchy meat stick varieties from Etta Says! and we’d be happy if we got one in her BarkBox every month! I break them in pieces and dole them out slowly rather than giving her the whole stick at once.

This box’s items had a total retail value of $52 which makes the subscription price a real bargain when you consider that plans starts as low as $29/month. Plus, we love that we get toys and treats we wouldn’t find elsewhere. Not only are the toys fun and challenging, but they are also built to last.  And you can’t beat the BarkBox satisfaction guarantee; they will replace any item if it doesn’t hold up to your standards or if your dog doesn’t like it for any reason.
