daisy the dog with her hedgehog dog toyWhen I’m feeling down or blue, I can always count on Daisy to cheer me up with a kiss or a cuddle, or just by seeing her funny face! Did you know that pets need companionship, too? Although we have fun together,  Daisy sometimes gets mopey if she goes too long without seeing her buddies. It makes me aware of just how much she loves playing with her doggy pals! We’re lucky that we live in a community where Daisy has lots of play pals to spend time with on a regular basis. two cute dogs hanging out for a visitDaisy recently invited her gal pal Stella for a sleep over. It was the first time one of her pals spent the night and we all had so much fun that I just can’t wait until we are able to adopt a brother or sister for Daisy. It would be so great for all of us, and there are SO many pets out there in need of a forever home!

To help raise awareness, the non-profit campaign Pets Add Life (PAL), has officially declared November 19, National Get A Pal For Your Pet Day. Recognizing the benefits of having multiple pets, the day is set to encourage pet parents to consider adopting additional furry, winged and/or finned family members.

To also help support the needs of organizations caring for homeless pets until they find their forever pal and permanent home, PAL is running the  Help A Shelter Out voting contest right now and shelters have a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000!! Second runner up wins $3,000 and third runner up wins $2,000. Voting is open through November 16th and the winners will be announced on November 19th, which is National Get a Pal for Your Pet Day!

  1. What a unique and clever day!

  2. What sweet puppies.

  3. My husband wants another pet so very badly, but I just can’t do it. I can hardly keep up with the kids and the house…. OK..I CAN’T keep up with the kids and the house. And now I also have to try to clean up after HIS pet? uhm…no…..no more pets in this house. But I can definitely see the point. Pets can get lonely and having another pet around helps with that. I just can’t handle any more though.  We will have to settle for getting the cat a new cuddle toy.

    • Haha I hear ya Amber! Knowing your limits is important, too! Nothing worse than someone taking on more pets than they can handle and then having to face the horrible situation of finding them a new home!

  4. Can’t say I’ve ever had a pet sleepover, but that looks like it was fun!

  5. We used to have a puppy. We had to give him away because the house we are renting doesn’t allow pets (we looked all over and most only allowed cats). Our puppy is happier now. When he lived with us he had the boys to play with and now he has a puppy friend to keep him company all day long!!

  6. Thanks for posting this.  There are so many wonderful pets out there just waiting for a family of their own.  I wish I could have 2 or 3 or 4.  Everyone should make it their mission to volunteer at their local rescue.  A walk and a little love goes a long way for a dog that is waiting for a home.

  7. How sweet.  We sometimes sit for my moms dog and ours have a sleepover.  It’s really like an over extended play date.  They go on for hours and act like little kids.

  8. Daisy and her friend are ADORABLE! I’d love to have a dog friend to spend the night, as my dog is super social!

  9. Aww, I LOVE IT! What a great idea <3
