i always check for ticks when we come back inside, when we go to the vet, always carry food and water, have a battery operated fan just in case, blankets in the car, have my regular dog food but also have canned food for emergencies. have plenty of bottled water in the house. take them out in the early morning or late evening due to the heat. also have cool jackets and collars and the cool pad for them to lie on.

I check my dogs for ticks and debris after outdoor adventures. I make sure he has plenty of water and some snacks and extra towels (for wet adventures). Otherwise we stay cool indoors since.

  4. Heather S says

I keep my pets and family safe by always water and blankets and non-perishable food in my car.

  5. We always take water with us on our walks. We avoid walking during the hottest part of the day and walk in the shade to avoid the hot asphalt in our parking area.

  6. Stephanie Phelps says

I plan to make sure my pets are safe by not taking them in the car anywhere and making sure they stay cool and hydrated.

The dogs enjoy the back yard when there’s shade and water out there. When really hot they enjoy laying under the ceiling fan in the living room. They are old now so we don’t go out for the walks we used to do.

All my dogs are microchipped – even my indoor-only cats are.  I also make sure they have all their tags on – including one for each with their name and my contact information on them.   I watch them when they play in the yard to make sure they don’t get safe and I check the fence and make sure nothing has been dropped or thrown into the yard that could be dangerous for them.  I’m actually a bit OCD about watching out for my furbabies.

  9. Shelley P says

At Summer BBQs I make sure everyone knows not to feed the dogs people food and I have pet safe food/treats on hand so if anyone wants to feed the dogs they can use these.

  10. Margot C says

Mike is safe because he’s by my side at all times. I would never leave him in a hot car or a garage.
