Early on in 2012, Casteel’s photos of underwater dogs started spreading across the internet like wildfire, taking over Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter for a combined 150 million views on social media sites.
Now comes the publication of a beautiful gift book with more than 80 amazing, entertaining and whimsical photos from the Underwater Dogs collection. Some are viral favorites from the web, but many are never-before-seen portraits of dogs leaping, splashing and diving, captured on film in Casteel’s distinct style of photography.
Daisy and I have been looking forward to the release of this book since we heard about it and were thrilled when our copy arrived this week! This book totally captures that magical spirit that dogs have – their capacity to just throw caution to the wind, dive in and thoroughly enjoy life with reckless abandon…a lesson for all us humans who spend too much time looking before we leap!
In addition to incredibly captivating photos, I love the captions that accompany each and every picture, providing the name, age and breed of each dog. From Dooley, the 3 year old Lab to Rocco, the 7 year old Boston Terrier, and every dog in between. What a group of super star swimmers and divers all having the time of their life!
If you are like me, you can probably already think of a whole bunch of dog lovers and photography buffs who would really appreciate this book as a gift. It’s the perfect size for a coffee table or to keep handy on a desk for much-needed relief on stressful or boring work days. It’s also a great gift for your favorite pet sitter, dog walker, or that neighbor who always helps out with your dog when you are in a bind.
