Make Plant Wall Art

I just spotted this super gorgeous Living Wall Planter kit and had to share it with you. I’m in love with it because it’s not only creative, and really cool, but it’s also a great way to keep certain plants out of the reach of pets.

We don’t have a yard so I love having living plants, flowers and greenery around on the window sills and balcony, but sometimes I’ve had to pass on certain plants I’d love to grow, because they could be poisonous if Daisy got curious and started munching on them. Here’s a list of plants that are poisonous to pets that the ASPCA pet poison control center has put together.

In the past, I’ve bookmarked several DIY Vertical Wall Planter projects, including this one from Home Depot, but never found the time to get all the supplies together and make one.

These DIY planter kits come complete with a moisture mat that distributes water evenly, planter hardware  and even includes a frame to complete the look. You just mount the included bracket on a secure vertical surface, fill the tray with plants and hang—SUPER easy!

Water enters through the top chamber and spreads evenly across the moisture mat, so the plant is hydrated without getting soaked.  Full kits with everything you need are on sale here right now for $59 OFF.

If you miss the sale, or want to make a true DIY project out of it, you can buy just the planter portion of the kit for $29 and then design or re-purpose your own frame or holder.

Daisy toothy grin

Daisy’s funny smile is one of the many things we love about her. It makes ME smile just seeing her crooked, toothy grin, and we’re doing everything we can to help keep her teeth and mouth healthy. In addition to keeping your dog’s smile looking good, a lot of pet parents don’t realize that proper oral care is super important for your dog’s overall health too!

Just like with people, if a pet gets gum disease from poor oral hygiene, bacteria from their mouth could enter their bloodstream and travel to the heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs. Unfortunately, unlike humans, we can’t teach our fur kids how to brush and floss so we have to be responsible for keeping their mouth healthy and clean for them!

Whether you’ve got a new puppy or have an older dog, here are some tips for you:

  • Brush your dog’s teeth daily and only use toothpaste that is designed for pets (never use human toothpaste). Daisy likes the poultry flavor and thinks tooth brushing is a big treat!

  • Out of sight, out of mind. Keep your dog’s tooth brush and toothpaste somewhere handy where you’ll see it and remember to use it. We keep all of Daisy’s important supplies up on top of the microwave in a big bowl where we can see it but she can’t get into it.
  • Watch out for early signs of gum and dental disease. If your dog starts getting bad breath or you notice their gums are bleeding, be sure to see the vet. Even if you don’t see these symptoms, remember to ask your veterinarian about your dog’s oral health at every annual exam.
  • Treat your dog with snacks designed to aid in oral care, like Pedigree Dentastix treats. They’re clinically proven to reduce tartar buildup (a contributor to gum disease) by up to 80% when used daily. They’ve got a special texture and patented X-shape. They help clean between teeth and down to the gum line. You’ll find them in sizes for every dog, too!

As pet parents, you already know that we’ve really got our hands full when it comes to cleaning up after our fur kids AND human family members. I take pride in keeping our place nice and clean, but probably my LEAST favorite task is cleaning the bathroom.

I’m sure I’m the only one who feels this way…for the smallest room in the house, it’s probably the one that takes the longest to clean. In addition to regular mess, the bathroom seems to be a magnet for rust, mildew, soap scum and other weird buildup caused by hard water and lime deposits. That’s the stuff that usually takes the most time and effort to clean. Honestly, I’d rather be out playing with Daisy!

CLR Bath & Kitchen Cleaner really is a gift to those of us short on time and patience for messy chores like bathroom and kitchen cleanup duty. It works hard on all the really tough spots so you don’t have to, and gives you a little extra time to do what YOU want to do during your day! Here’s what makes it great:

  • Fast acting and powerful
  • Cleans quickly and effectively
  • Makes short work of stubborn dirt, calcium, lime, hard water stains and soap scum
  • Has the Environmental Protection Agency’s “DfE” (Design for the Environment” designation, meaning its safer chemistry is not harmful to everyone in your home.

That last point is super important to me. I try to make sure that everything we use around our place is as safe as possible…especially for Daisy who has allergies and is really sensitive. If I’m going to use something to clean the tub, I want to know it’s not going to harm her already sensitive skin!

If you want to spend less time cleaning and more time playing with your pet and family, be sure to try CLR Bath & Kitchen Cleaner. You’ll also want to follow @CLRCleaners on Twitter for cleaning tips, deals and great offers!
