Did you know that regular household tap water can contain half as much chlorine as a swimming pool? And that chlorine can cause dry and damaged hair and skin? I didn’t either until we were invited to try the T3 Source Source Shower Filter.
Not only does the T3 filter out up to 95% of chlorine but it also helps remove other irritants including Hydrogen Sulfide, Iron Oxide, dirt and other sediment, for healthier hair and skin. The T3 Tourmaline technology produces negative ions reduce water cluster size which improves filtration as well as help to PH balance the water.
You might think this only affects the people in your house, but if your pets have itchy skin or shed more than normal, poor water quality and too much chlorine could be a factor!
I was super excited to install the new shower filter as soon as it arrived but had to wait for Woof Woof Papa to come home and help so that I could get some photos of the installation process. Trust me, now that I’ve seen him do it, you don’t need to add it to the “honey-do list” or wait for anyone to help you. If you’ve got an adjustable wrench, you can do it yourself in about 5 minutes. Everything else you need is in the box!
We’ve only been using the new shower filter for a couple of weeks but I’ve already noticed that my skin and scalp are much less itchy, and my hair is SO much easier to comb through after washing it. It used to be a tangled mess and feel coarse even with extra conditioner, and now it even air dries smoothly! Less frizz without a blow dry is a huge WIN in my book…saves time and is less damaging, plus we live in South Florida, so who wants to stand under the blow dryer in August?!? I color my hair too, so I love the idea of less chlorine so my color lasts longer and doesn’t fade out!
One of my other favorite things about the T3 is that it has 8 different spray settings. The hubby likes the Full Massage setting, while I enjoy switching them up depending on whether I want a wake-up shower or a relax and de-stress shower. And because it’s a hand-held model, it’s also SUPER handy for bathing Daisy! Regular readers probably already know all about Daisy’s skin sensitivities so this is a double bonus…easier bath time plus less irritants in the water.
The first time we tried it on her she was a little scared of it, and clearly NOT amused, as you can see in the photo, but we’ve used it since and she’s much more comfortable. She’s never a fan of bath day anyway, but it sure is easier now…and healthier for her fur and skin, too!
I should also mention that we’ve had a problem with rust stains and filmy build up in the bath, and I’m already seeing a reduction of this thanks to the filter. Plus, the handheld model makes it so much faster and easier to rinse down the tile and tub after a bath or shower so there’s less soap scum, too.
The unit comes with a replaceable chlorine filter which needs to be changed every 3-4 months or 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first. Since I have no clue how much 3,000 gallons is, I’ve just set a reminder to change on my calendar! Replacement filters are $25 each but totally worth it based on our positive experience so far.

I know a yorkie who loves her bath time. I bet she would like this and we have hard water so the filter would help a lot.
It’s definitely helping…and you are SO lucky your fur baby loves bath time!
I really did LOL when I saw the look on your dog’s face. My lab has severe skin allergies, which worsen in the summer. I never thought about water being a culprit! I’ll have to investigate this further because if something simple like this can help, I have to do it!
LOL! The hubby kept getting impatient with me because I was laughing so hard that I kept messing up my photos and he just wanted me to hurry up and help him finish her bath!
I have this very same showerhead in my shower. And I absolutely love it. Now I refuse to shower or take a bath in the other bathrooms because they don’t have this showerhead. lol. It really does make a big difference on skin and hair. I need to get one for the bathroom that has a tub. I’d love to have a filtered bath for a homemade sauna one day!
Speaking of sauna, I was already thinking about how much healthier and nicer the steam is with the filter…I’m not looking forward to cold and flu season but I think it will help with congestion and sinuses, too!
I am a big believer in filtered shower heads! I did not know about this one I use another brand at the moment but may switch. Thanks for sharing!
You were already a step ahead of me…we rent and aren’t able to install an inline system, so I never thought there was anything we could do about the bad water (besides drink from a filter pitcher). I was so excited when I found out that they make a shower head with a filter! Love it!
aw, look at that face!!!
I had no idea that was attributed to less shiny hair and skin issues. I’ve heard that chlorine in water increases chances of bladder cancer though. Hmmm…thanks for sharing.
I never thought of a filter for my shower… thank you for this post!
I never knew about this brand, I have a shower filter in my bathroom and it really do make a difference. Great post and love the pictures of your dog…so cute!
Saw this on another blog last week, and really want one now. I hate our water here at my house. I can smell the chlorine in it. Yuck.
I love that is has a filter! That seems like such an awesome filter.
