Our Experience with the Kurgo Lifetime Warranty

We already knew that Kurgo makes some of the most durable dog accessories around, with a lifetime warranty, and we recently needed to put that guarantee to the test with our Kurgo Wander Hammock Dog Car Seat Cover. This version protects both the back seats as well as the back of the front seats. It also keeps Daisy from poking into the front seats while we are driving.

We’ve had two of these car seat covers, one in each of our cars, for about 6 years. They’ve done their job keeping our car seats clean and have been easy to care for. Usually just a quick vacuum or spot clean has taken care of business, but recently I noticed that the back lining was deteriorating and leaving a flaky mess on the back seats in my car. I’m guessing this was due to the amount of sun and heat that my car gets year-round here in South Florida. We double checked the cover in Woof Woof Papa’s car and it is still in great shape so this may have just been some kind of fluke.

I was disappointed but knew that Kurgo has a lifetime warranty, so I visited their website to see what to do about getting a replacement. Usually, there are all kinds of loopholes and hoops to jump through with company warranties, but Kurgo only required that I fill out a web form, upload photos and details about the purchase location and date, and within 2 days I’d received an email with shipping notification of our free replacement.

There aren’t that many companies out there willing to guarantee their products for life, but we can certainly confirm that the Kurgo Lifetime Warranty is 100% LEGIT.

People have asked me before if Kurgo dog products are worth the extra price. Yes, they are a little more expensive than some other brands, but you get what you pay for. Their products are designed for active dogs, outdoor and travel. And they really stand by their products, so you never have to worry if something goes wrong. I feel even more confident than ever in recommending their products to our fellow dog moms and dads.

Check out the Kurgo shop for dog car seat covers, pet first aid kits, collars, harnesses, dog life jackets, pet travel and more active dog and pet safety products.

Important Note: you can find many Kurgo products for sale on Amazon but make sure that you check that the seller is actually Kurgo Products. My understanding is that the Lifetime Warranty only applies to authorized sellers, so it’s not worth saving a few bucks if you risk voiding the replacement guarantee. Daisy Tries Shed Defender, The Dog Onesie That Controls Shedding

Some posts may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

For a short-haired dog, Daisy sure does shed a LOT. This means fur on the sofa, in our bed where she sleeps every night, in the car…you name it, we find hair there. So I was super excited to test out the Shed Defender. It’s basically a dog bodysuit that contains pet hair. It also has some other useful features I think dog moms and dads will appreciate.

What is Shed Defender

The Shed Defender is a full-body dog onesie made from a lightweight, breathable fabric, with four-way stretch to allow your dog to move freely. It’s machine washable and dryable. The main purpose is to contain pet hair and prevent your dog from leaving fur everywhere. It can also help reduce anxiety, since its snug fit can create a calming effect (similar to a Thunder Shirt). If you and your dog like to spend time outdoors, you’ll be glad to know that the Shed Defender provides UV protection and helps keep your dog clean. It can be used instead of the dreaded Cone of Shame for certain medical conditions. It even comes with its own little pouch for travel and storage.

Putting It On and Taking It Off

The first time we tried putting the bodysuit on Daisy, it was a bit of a challenge. She doesn’t like new things and was really skeptical about the whole situation. To end up with a positive experience. never force your dog to do something they really don’t want to do. To get her used to it, I just put it on half way at first and then gave her some treats while we hung out.

Once we got the whole thing on and zipped up, it took her about 30 minutes to really be ok with it, and then I think she forgot she had it on. If you are planning to use one when you travel, in the car, or for anxiety reduction, I suggest a few trial-runs at home to get your dog familiar with what to expect.

Size and Fit

As you can see, it fits Daisy pretty well. Although there are MANY sizes available, I was concerned when choosing her size online because usually NOTHING fits her right. T-shirts, Halloween costumes, harnesses, we always seem to have trouble because she’s very slim but has a broad chest. Thanks to the accurate size chart and stretchy fabric, we didn’t have a problem. She’s 48lbs and is wearing the Large.

The model we got is the Original, with a full zipper, but Shed Defender also makes a Sport edition where the zipper stops at the belly, allowing easier access for potty.

BarkBox Review + Coupon: Dog Daze Edition

Some posts may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Dog moms and dads, it’s time for this month’s BarkBox review, where Daisy and I give you an insider’s look at all the dog toys, treats and surprises that come with the world’s most popular dog subscription box!

Each month’s theme is different, and this month the BarkBox theme is Dog Daze. It’s a Summer extravaganza of floaty dog toys and refreshing treats, perfect for celebrating the last days of the season!

As with each month’s dog subscription box from BarkBox, this one included 2 fun toys inspired by the theme, plus 2 full-size bags of dog treats and a tasty meat chew. You can expect a value of $40-$50 worth of dog toys and treats in each month’s BarkBox, for as low as $21/month including Free US Shipping. Read on to see what we thought of the August BarkBox.

Daisy gets the large dog box which is shown in our BarkBox reviews, but whatever size your dog is, they will get the same number of toys and treats in appropriate sizes. Treats are also customized based on whether you specify food allergies in your dog’s BarkBox profile.

We hope you’ll stay for our BarkBox review but if you are just here for the BarkBox coupon, code WOOFWOOFMAMA will get you a FREE extra month added to any order of 1-month or more at BarkBox.com/woofwoofmama.

Note that this is the Classic BarkBox edition which usually includes plush toys. If your dog is a real toy destroyer then check out the BarkBox Super Chewer edition instead.

August BarkBox Dog Toys

Pup A Brewski Floating Dog Toy ($10 retail value) Not only is this a floating toy, but it’s also a crinkle bottle dog toy. And it’s reversible! Our pool is closed due to the hurricane preparations underway, so we’ll have to wait to test this one out but it’s been great for indoor fetch games while we avoid the rain storms outside.

The Tanatee Dog Toy ($10 retail value) This adorable manatee dog toy is also a floaty toy. Living in Florida, we know how important it is to protect the manatee, so it’s a little weird letting Daisy gnaw on this poor guy but she really loves him!

BarkBox dog toys are always super cute, colorful and original. This month was no exception…in fact, this month might just be the most fun yet but it’s hard to say because the BarkBox folks never fail to surprise and delight us with something new in each month’s box. Not every dog gets the same toys in their BarkBox, so here’s a look at some of the variations.

August BarkBox Dog Treats

What’s Up Peanut Brother Dog Treats ($8 retail value) Tasty all-natural dog treats made with peanut butter, honey and banana. As with all Bark treats, these are made in the USA and free from the junk dogs don’t need.

It’s Literally Like The Best Dog Treats ($8 retail value) Bacon and cheese chewy dog treats are the perfect end of summer snack!

Plato Pet Treats Thinkers Duck Stick ($3 retail value) One of our favorite treats from one of our favorite brands. Called Thinkers because this dog snack is packed full of DHA and Omega-3 fatty acid famous for its cognitive benefits. This treat is true brain food.

Once again we were super happy with this month’s BarkBox goodies, but know that if you ever receive a toy or treat that doesn’t make you happy or that isn’t suitable for your dog, BarkBox will send you a FREE replacement with no questions asked. You don’t even have to send back the unwanted item. They encourage you to donate or share it, and will send you a replacement more to your dog’s liking! It’s part of their Scout’s Honor Satisfaction Guarantee that comes with every delivery.

BarkBox Cost and Value

By our calculation, this month’s BarkBox had $39 worth of dog toys and  treats if you were to purchase them all separately.

That’s a great value when you consider that subscription prices start at $21/month with free US Shipping.

In addition to saving money, we also love the WOW-factor and excitement of getting a new delivery of surprises each month.

It’s a chance to discover new dog treats and toys that we might not have known about otherwise. And the BarkBox toys are really Instagram-worthy, making them the perfect photo props in addition to some amazing dog toys!
