Woof Woof Mama

I’ve got some very BIG news and I’m super excited to share it with you! Woof Woof Papa and I have been invited to participate in the Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Program and share our weight loss journey together with all of you through weekly blog updates over the next 4 months! Daisy is going to stick to her regular diet, but she’ll be helping out by keeping us on track with kisses and encouragement.

Like many couples, we’ve struggled with our weight together over the years. Plain and simple, we both really like to eat and neither of us is very good at portion control. Weight loss has always been a battle for me, and I’ve been a chronic yo-yo dieter over the years, bouncing around between a size 6 and a size 18 and everything in between most of my adult life.

We both have family health histories of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, etc. so we know we need to keep our weight in check but it’s definitely been a challenge to stay near a healthy weight. We were doing ok until a few years ago when the hubby and his Army Reserve unit got deployed to Iraq. The time he was gone was difficult for both of us, and when he came home a year later, there was a stressful period of adjustment…and lots of eating! We ate to celebrate, we ate to deal with the stresses of readjusting, we just kind of forgot about healthy eating for a while. Here’s us visiting family on Cape Cod the month after he returned home. It’s the last time we were both at our “normal” weight!
Since then, we’ve really had a difficult time figuring out how to deal with our food issues. Over the past few years, I’ve put on 40 pounds and he’s gained a little over 50. Here’s a photo of the two of us at our current size.

Neither of us is happy about our weight gain but until now we really haven’t figured out a solution on our own. We need HELP getting back on track! That’s why I’m so excited about the amazing opportunity for both of us to join Nutrisystem. Finally, a chance to put the meal planning and portion-sizes in the hands of the experts before things get any more out of control!

We know it won’t be easy, but we are looking forward to getting healthier and losing weight together. Our food and program support materials are on their way and we are eager to get started, so wish us luck!  We hope you’ll stay tuned and help support us during the next 4 months as we work toward our weight loss goals and keep you up to date on our progress with weekly postings.
