Here’s a chance to do some good to help animals, while also finding out more about your own mystery mutt!

If you’ve adopted a dog from a shelter like we did with Daisy, then you might be curious to know more about their health, breed history and characteristics. Embark has launched a new Clear the Shelters initiative, and they’re asking all of us dog lovers to help out. It’s super simple to participate:

  • Vote HERE for your favorite shelter by August 31st. More votes helps them win a larger donation
  • Every shelter will receive a $100 minimum donation. After you vote, you can share to help increase the donations
  • For each post tagging @embarkvet on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the hashtag #cleartheshelters, they will add donations to the pot (up to $10,000)

Then learn about your own dog’s breed & health by using Embark coupon code CAMP50 for $50 off the Breed + Health Dog DNA Kit.

It’s a simple saliva test that you collect from your dog’s cheek at home using the swab and kit they provide, and then send back (return postage is prepaid for you). Animal lovers, visit ASPCA.org/150days and pledge at least 15 minutes of your time between now and September 7 to help animals in need. The goal is to reach a total of 150,000 actions for animals across the nation in just 150 days.

Ways to participate include volunteering at a local shelter, donating, fostering, adopting a shelter pet, spreading the word through social media and in person and more. Log your good deeds and you’ll be given the opportunity to nominate YOUR favorite animal shelter to receive a grant prize of $150,000!
