The very kind folks over at PetSmart sent Daisy a pretty gift pack of toys from their new Toys R Us Pets Collection and WOW are they adorable! Maybe you’ve seen the TV commercials already about the new Toy Chest dog toy aisle. Well, PetSmart has been working with Dr. Sophia Yin, veterinarian and applied animal behaviorist, to provide insights on how toys and play help develop a happy, healthy pet. This Toys R Us Pets Collection includes dog toys designed especially for all stages of development from Puppyhood to Adult Years and even with the Senior Dog in mind! There are over 100 whimsical Toys R Us items available at PetSmart stores and online at PetSmart.com including:

Toys R Us Pets Patterned Body Canvas Caterpillar: This toy has 5 squeakers for extra fun! Remember to always supervise dogs with squeaker toys…Daisy and I enjoy playing fetch and a light game of tug with this one!

Toys R Us Pets Wacky Water Bottle Crunchers: You know how dogs love to play with empty water bottles? Well, Daisy sure does! This cute toy covers the water bottle so that a pup can enjoy the crunchy sound and fun, without you having to worry about them hurting their mouth or swallowing pieces of broken plastic if they crack the bottle!

Toys R Us Pets Rope Tug Animal Dog Toys: This colorful and fun toy is great for tug, fetch and as a light chew toy. Daisy always loves rope toys and this one was no exception! You can also see her in action during our K9 Kamp Week 3 Highlights where this toy is featured in one of our Doggone Minute To Win It activities!

Take the Pledge: Support ASPCA No Pet Store Puppies Campaign!

Sadly, many people still don’t know that most Pet Store Puppies come from large-scale commercial breeding operations commonly known as Puppy Mills.  Operators of puppy mills breed dogs in unsanitary, overcrowded and often cruel conditions where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs. ASPCA is raising awareness and helping to put a stop to this with their “No Pet Store Puppies” Campaign. In addition to the No Pet Store Puppies Facebook Page, ASPCA has also rolled out a series of YouTube Videos to inform the public and YOU can help spread the word AND enter to Win a $50 ASPCA Prize Pack!

Take the Pledge and help fight puppy mill cruelty by refusing to shop at pet stores and on websites that sell puppies.

I pledge that if a pet store sells puppies, I won’t buy anything there. Not pet food, kitty litter, or squeaky toys — Nothing! And I pledge to tell everyone I know not to shop there either!
