Living in South Florida, I really didn’t think I could get very excited about a new pool or beach accessory because I thought I’d seen them all (giant rainbow unicorn swans, I’m looking at you), but then came the launch of this Funboy x Bark collaboration and I have found new #LifeGoals!

Funboy is the creator of some of the hottest and most Instagram-worthy pool floats around now you AND your dog can live the luxe life, with your choice of matching luxury white yachts or pink retro convertible floats for the pool or beach.

These are a new offering over at the BarkShop and are sure to sell out quickly. I’d received the press release only a few days ago and already the buzz across the web has reached epic proportion, being featured by People, Mashable, PopSugar, Bustle and more.

In addition to the cool-factor, these floats are also designed with your dog in minds. They are made of thick and sturdy puncture resistant plastic and hold up to 70lbs. The matching human float holds up to 250lbs with room for two.

One of our favorite things about the dog floats is the reinforced compartment for treats or toys. The human version has two cup holders and a spot for your cooler, sunscreen and more.

The dog floats are sold individually for $59 each or grab the matching pair for you and your dog at $169 for your choice of Pink Pimp My Float Bundle or the White Holy Ship Bundle. As with everything at the BarkShop, free shipping is included. You can also use BarkShop coupon code WOOFWOOFMAMA to get a free treat added to any order!

dog h2o jackets

Everyone knows that dogs can swim, and most dogs LOVE swimming so much that it can be difficult to get them out of the lake/ocean/pond/pool when it’s time to towel off and call it a day. So then why do they make life jackets for dogs?

Well, it turns out there are several very important reasons why your dog might need a life jacket. Now that Memorial Day is behind us and things are starting to heat up, be sure to take a sec for this important pet safety info.

Why Get a Life Jacket for Your Dog

  • Some dogs can’t swim: It’s a somewhat well-kept secret that certain breeds of dogs are NOT build for swimming. For their own safety, you’ll want to make sure they are wearing a life jacket whenever they are near the water. Bulldogs are one example, but check with your professional trainer or veterinarian if you aren’t sure.
  • You’re on a boat: This one seems like a no-brainer but I’ll mention it anyway. Every family member needs their own life jacket whenever you are out on a water craft and that includes your dog. If your dog accidentally falls overboard, there is an emergency or accident, a life jacket could help save their life.
  • Your dog is elderly or disabled: Swimming can be both enjoyable and therapeutic for dogs of all ages and abilities. By putting a life jacket on your dog, they will be able to play safely in the water with their pals, regardless of their limitations.
  • Dogs get tired: Have you ever accidentally swam out so far from shore that you were almost too tired to get back? Luckily, most of us have learned to float or tread water, but dogs don’t know what to do if they get tired. In fact, most of the time, dogs are having so much fun that they won’t realize when they’ve become overly tired and might not be able to swim back to safety on their own. If your dog is going to swim and play in a large body of water where they might get distracted and swim out too far, consider putting a life jacket on your pup.

Regardless of whether or not you decide to get a life jacket for your dog, it’s absolutely essential that you never leave your dog unattended in or around the water.

If you do decide you’d like to get one, here are 3 top-rated life jacket brands for dogs:

  1. Paws Aboard makes life jackets and other aquatic products for dogs, including the super CUTE Lifeguard dog water jacket pictured at the top of this post. Go HERE to view all the sizes and styles.

canopy pet bed with daisy

It’s getting pretty hot down here this time of year but we still love getting outdoors for a hike and a picnic with Daisy whenever we can! It’s been raining every day for almost 2 weeks, and we’ve already had our first tropical storm of the season, but yesterday was finally a nice sunny day so we decided to head out to the park and test out some shade canopies we received from Quik Shade recently.

Quik Shade makes awesome instant canopy and chair sets for humans, and has also started making instant canopy pet beds that are super easy to carry, quick to set up and offer shade and comfy ventilation on a hot day. In addition to great features to keep Daisy cool and sheltered on a hot day, I also love that the canopy bed  folds up into an easy to store and carry tote bag with shoulder strap. We don’t have much room for storage, but it fits perfectly in the closet and doesn’t take up much room in my car’s trunk either!

Daisy and her pet canopy bed from Quik Shade

With temps reaching the high 80’s and low 90’s already in many regions, we pet parents need to be careful to keep the fur kids cool and hydrated when out for a day at the park or beach. Pets can get easily overheated and dehydrated so it’s super great to have a handy instant canopy for her AND for us when we go for a family fun day. This pet canopy would also be perfect for hanging out together in the backyard or on the patio!

Quik Shade instant canopy and chair set

Daisy isn’t the only one who needs shade on a hot, sunny day…luckily, Quik Shade also invited us to test out the instant canopy and chair combo set, too! The whole set fits in a handy backpack that takes up less than a foot of cubic space, and is super fast to set up and take down. The backpack is perfect for hand-free carrying, as you can Woof Woof Papa modeling it above for us. What I love about both the pet canopy and the Quik Shade combo set for people is that their portability makes it easy to get off the beaten path and find the perfect spot away from the crowds, and not be limited to where there are shade trees or picnic shelters…we just make our own shade wherever we want! We’ll definitely be taking these to the beach and out for plenty more fun summer picnics with Daisy and her pals!
