We were just starting to talk about what Daisy should be for Halloween this year, when a package showed up! The sweeties over at PetSmart looked through the new 2012 collection, decided that Daisy would make a cute a Ladybug, and sent over this adorable dog Halloween costume for her to wear for trick-or-treating this year.
She’s still getting used to wearing it, so we are glad it arrived early to give her time to adjust. Unless your dog is accustomed to wearing clothing or costumes on a regular basis, we suggest you get yours soon and give your pup time to get used to theirs, too!
This one has a hood with ear holes, and Daisy was pretty good for her Daddy while he helped her put it on. My job was holding the treats and camera and trying not too laugh too hard…you can see this shot is a little blurry because I was giggling and she was wiggling.
Look how CUTE those heart-shaped antennas are!!! It’s the only challenging part about putting on this costume and might work better for a dog with slightly smaller ears, or maybe ears that are less floppy and more pointy…but it’s so fun, and you can roll the hood into a collar like we did in the top photos.
If you aren’t sure about fit, I suggest you take your pooch with you to PetSmart when you shop for a costume. In addition to deciding which size fits best (Daisy is 50 lbs and this is an XL), there are also many different costumes to choose from and your dog will want to help pick!
If you’ve got a fur kid that isn’t fond of wearing a full costume, you could get a cute bow, collar or other Halloween accessory instead. Check out all the dog Halloween costumes and accessories at PetSmart.com for LOTS more.

Daisy and I love bringing you stories about how you can help support efforts to help animals in need. We’ve blogged about how you can take the ASPCA Pledge to End Puppy Mills by promising never to shop for anything at a store that sells puppies. Well, you might have seen the shocking news about the recent puppy mill situation in Johnston, S.C.
The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society of Charlotte were called in by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the rescue of approximately 250 animals including more than 200 dogs of various breeds and ages living in deplorable conditions.
PetSmart Charities heard about what was going on and dispatched its Emergency Relief Waggin’ vehicle, stocked with $90,000 worth of crucial supplies, to the scene where animal rescue teams will operate an emergency shelter. The vehicles are stocked with crucial supplies, including pet food, wire crates, plastic carriers, bowls, fans, and more to aid the animal rescuers on scene.
This is where you can help support the PetSmart Charities’ Emergency Relief program by making a donation online to help more pets like these find the loving homes they deserve. Any amount will help, and no donation is too small.
