Nutrisystem Update Week 15: Celebrating 25 Pounds Lost So Far! #NSNation

Nutrisystem 25 pounds lost

Time for our weekly  Nutrisystem update and I have big news:  I’m celebrated a milestone this week with 25 pounds lost in 15 weeks! I know that some people might look at this and think that taking nearly 4 months to lose 25 pounds seems slow, but it’s an average of 1.66 pounds per week so I’m pretty thrilled with how I’m doing. Since there’s no 25 lb Nutribear, I created this early Valentine to reward myself!

Do I wish I could lose more, faster? Of course! But I just keep reminding myself that all the experts say slow and steady is healthier and easier to maintain in the long run. Compared with other methods I’ve tried, I’m definitely finding this plan the easiest to follow and it’s really helped us both to re-evaluate our relationship with food and relearn what proper portion sizes look like.  Tracking everything we eat has become such a habit that I’m sure we will continue even after finishing the program. We also have such a great variety of food options that we rarely feel deprived, which I’m learning is another key to success.

The other big news this week is that we’re going to continue on the Nutrisystem program for another 3 months! We’d originally planned to do 4 months, but are SO happy with how things are going and not getting tired of the meal plan at all…plus, we are both on such a positive course toward meeting our weight loss goals that we can’t quit now. We’ve each got less than 20 pounds left to go! BIG thanks and HUGS to our Nutrisystem advisor Meredith for supporting us with positive feedback and words of encouragment each week, and for arranging for us to continue!

Now for this week’s weight loss update. I lost 1.2 lbs this week for a total so far of 25.6 lbs lost…woohoo! Daisy’s papa didn’t lose anything this week, but didn’t gain either. He’s lost a total of 42.2 pounds in 15 weeks, so having a zero week isn’t fazing him much. One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is to just stick with it and don’t get discouraged. If you’ve missed any updates or want to see a weekly breakdown of our weight loss, you can check it all out below:

Nutrisystem Update Week 13: The Nutribears Are Taking Over! #NSNation

nutrisystem bears

We’re celebrating our progress by showing off our Nutribears this week! In addition to the great meal plans and online support tools we get,  Nutrisystem also rewards members for their weight loss by sending a bear designed especially for every 10 pounds lost. Each cute critter has a name. Woof Woof Papa recently earned his 40 pound “Determination Bear” and I’m super happy to make room for my very own 20 pound “Commitment Bear”. With a total of 6 bears earned so far between the two of us, and lots more pounds to lose, we’re going to have to find a special spot for them before they take over!

After putting the holiday eating season behind us, I’m thrilled to report that we are both back on track and making great progress: The hubby lost 3.5 pounds (for a total so far of 40.3) and I lost 2.4 (for a total of 22.8)!!! If you missed any of our previous updates, here’s the breakdown of how we did in weeks 1-12:

Walk In Sync Humane Dog Walking and Training System: Fast, Easy and FUN!

humane dog training

One of the most common challenges of being a good pet parent is teaching our dog good manners. Whether you’ve got a dog who pulls, jumps on people or lunges at other dogs, you know what a hassle it can be. Sometimes it can even make you not want to go certain places with your pooch…and that’s no fun! It’s also stressful trying to figure out what to do about it since everyone has an opinion.

One thing we learned early on with Daisy from her Humane Society trainer, is that choke collars are a big NO-NO. We all love our fur kids and it’s super important to use a humane and fun method to teach them good manners. It’s not only cruel, but also ineffective to use punishment, pain or force in attempting to train your dog. This applies whether you have a new puppy you are training as you raise them, a juvenile, or an adult dog who has developed some bad habits that need to be addressed.

I recently connected with veteran trainer, Alecia Evans, who introduced us to her fun and highly-effective humane walking and training system: Walk In Sync. We’re SO excited to be able to share this invaluable solution with our fellow pet parents! Here’s Alecia with an intro message from her training website to give you an idea of her friendly approach, and the resources you get with the system.

Nutrisystem Update Week 12: Welcoming 2013 and Putting the Holidays Behind Us! #NSNation

weighing in after the holidays

Happy New Year everyone! Hard to believe we are already 5 days into 2013! It’s always a bit of a let-down as the holiday season comes to a close, and things start to get back to normal. Before Daisy’s papa and I start putting away all the Christmas decorations and cleaning up around here, I just wanted to bring you a very quick  Nutrisystem update on how we did this week.

In addition to New Year’s Eve and a day watching Bowl Games on New Year’s Day, we also celebrated the hubby’s birthday this week…so it was a FUN but challenging week! I got a little carried away with the bubbly and we both overdid it with splurging on Chinese food and a few other favorites. Although we managed to hold it together pretty well, I’ll admit that I’m relieved to be putting the holidays behind us so we can really get back to the business of eating healthy, getting fit and losing weight!

This week was the first time that I’ve actually gained weight, putting on 0.6 lbs while Woof Woof Papa managed to lose 0.6 lbs! If you’ve been keeping up with our updates, you already know that he gained 4.1 over Christmas and I barely lost any that week (-0.2) so it’s good to get focused and back on track quickly after a couple weeks of no-progress. As I mentioned last week, I think it’s super helpful that we already have our plan in place and know that it works, and our New Year’s resolution is simply to “Stick to the plan!”

So far, I’ve lost 20.4 and the hubby has lost 36.8. We’re still feeling pretty good about that, even though we still have a ways to go to meet our goal weights. Here’s the breakdown in case you missed any weeks:
